Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 Wedge

• Self-Illuminated Tritium: The tritium inserts glow continuously without batteries, giving the sight picture a clear reference in darkness, transitional light, and indoor defensive use.
• High-Visibility 3-Dot Layout: The three-dot arrangement helps the eye pick up the front and rear relationship quickly, which supports faster alignment at typical handgun distances.
• U-Notch Rear Sight: The green U-shaped rear sight opens the sight picture and makes the front sight easier to center, helping with quicker target acquisition under stress.
• Steel Construction: A steel sight body stands up well to daily carry, repeated holstering, and hard use, while maintaining a stable zero on the slide.
• Fixed Duty-Style Setup: The fixed configuration keeps the system simple and robust, making it well suited to defensive pistols where reliability matters more than on-gun adjustment.

About the Meprolight HVS Series

The Meprolight HVS series, later renamed Hyper-Bright in 2021, is Meprolight’s family of high-visibility pistol sights built for shooters who need a clear sight picture in both daylight and low-light conditions. Introduced around the 2020 SHOT Show, the line was developed around a simple idea: combine the always-ready benefit of tritium illumination with a sight picture that remains easy to read in bright daytime use.

Across the series, the sights use steel construction, a fixed three-dot layout, and a U-shaped rear notch that helps the front sight stand out more naturally during rapid presentation. The family is offered for multiple handgun makes, which makes it relevant to defensive carry pistols, service handguns, and general range use. Meprolight also offers different front-sight contrast ring colors, including orange, green, and yellow, so shooters can choose the visual emphasis that best suits their eyes and shooting style. The result is a practical pistol-sight series focused on fast alignment, low-light readiness, and durable everyday use.

About the Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 Wedge

The Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 Wedge is a dedicated tritium night sight set for Kimber 1911-pattern pistols that use the wedge-style cut, giving the pistol a durable iron-sight upgrade aimed at defensive carry, duty use, and low-light shooting. Because the sights are self-illuminated, they remain visible without switches or batteries, which is especially useful when moving from daylight into dim interiors or when the pistol is stored for long periods and must still be ready immediately.

This model uses a fixed sight adjustment, which favors strength and consistency over user-adjustable mechanisms. On a carry or defensive handgun, that matters because the sight set is less exposed to accidental movement and better suited to repeated holster wear. The 3-dot alignment gives shooters a familiar reference that is easy to interpret quickly, while the green U-shaped rear sight helps frame the front sight in a way that supports faster centering. In practical terms, the U-notch tends to feel less visually cramped than a square notch, which can help when shooting on the move or under time pressure.

The steel housing adds the kind of durability expected from a hard-use handgun sight, resisting the knocks and abrasion that come with everyday carry. Finished in black, the set keeps a subdued appearance while focusing attention on the illuminated aiming references rather than on the body of the sight itself.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. It is a division of SK Group and has built its reputation around practical sighting products designed for service conditions rather than range-only use.

Its product range covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, magnifiers, night-vision systems, and thermal devices. Meprolight also produces sighting systems for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines, which gives the brand broad experience across both handgun and long-gun applications. In the handgun category, that background shows in robust steel sight construction, self-illuminated designs, and sight pictures intended for fast acquisition in changing light.
