Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD 12x50 Gen 2 Product description

  • 12x50 configuration: The combination of 12x magnification and a 50 mm objective helps pull distant detail closer for hillside glassing, open-country hunting, and long observation sessions where smaller binoculars can leave too much unresolved.
  • Elite Optical System: Leupold’s optical system is designed to improve resolution, contrast, and glare control, which makes it easier to separate animals, terrain, or plumage details when light is flat or reflections are strong.
  • Interchangeable Form-Fit eyecups: The included eyecup system supports a more tailored viewing position, helping reduce eye fatigue during extended glassing and making the binocular more comfortable over long sessions behind the lenses.
  • Open-bridge roof prism body: The Schmidt/Pechan roof prism layout and open-bridge design keep the binocular compact in the hand, improve grip security, and make one-handed handling easier when moving through uneven ground.
  • Waterproof and fogproof construction: Sealed weather resistance helps the BX-4 Pro Guide HD 12x50 Gen 2 stay usable in rain, cold mornings, and rapid temperature changes, so the view remains dependable in the field.

About the Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide Series

The Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide series was introduced as a binocular line built for hunters and extended outdoor glassing, with the original family announced in 2017. From the start, the series focused on practical field use rather than oversized dimensions, combining an open-bridge design with a roof-prism layout that is easy to carry, steady in the hands, and well suited to long days spent scanning ridgelines, timber edges, and open country.

A defining part of the series is Leupold’s emphasis on low-light and glare management. The original BX-4 Pro Guide HD models used the Twilight Max HD Light Management System to support useful brightness and contrast when daylight fades or when strong reflections make detail harder to read. Over time, the lineup expanded into multiple configurations, including 8x32, 10x32, 8x42, 10x42, 10x50, and 12x50, giving users a choice between wider-field all-round models and higher-magnification versions for longer-distance observation. The current Gen 2 BX-4 Pro Guide HD models continue that same role in Leupold’s binocular range, refining the concept with updated optics and comfort-focused details for serious field use.

About the Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD 12x50 Gen 2

The Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD 12x50 Gen 2 is the higher-magnification option in the standard BX-4 Pro Guide HD Gen 2 binocular range, aimed at users who spend more time judging distant detail than sweeping broad areas at close range. Its 12x magnification gives a clear advantage when glassing across valleys, studying animals before a stalk, or picking out fine structure in terrain where 8x or 10x binoculars may not show enough separation. The 50 mm objective lenses support image brightness and help the binocular remain useful in the first and last light periods that matter in hunting optics.

Leupold pairs that format with its Elite Optical System, which is intended to improve clarity, control glare, and preserve contrast in difficult light. In practice, that matters when the sun is low, when bright rock or water throws reflections back into the image, or when subtle color and texture differences are the only clues that reveal a subject. The fully multicoated lenses further support image quality, while the 4.20 mm exit pupil and 16.00 mm eye relief help balance viewing comfort with the higher-power format.

The binocular’s roof prism design, central focusing system, and open-bridge body keep handling straightforward in the field, while the central diopter arrangement keeps adjustment close at hand. With a close focus of 3.30 m, it remains versatile enough for nearer subjects despite its long-distance bias. Waterproof and fogproof construction, tripod adaptability, and the included interchangeable Form-Fit eyecups make this a practical 12x50 binocular for long observation sessions where stability, comfort, and image control matter as much as raw magnification.

About Leupold

Leupold & Volpel was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1907 by Fred Leupold and Adam Volpel. The company later introduced its first riflescope, the Plainsman, in 1947, and followed with the Duplex reticle in 1962, a design that became one of the best-known reticle patterns in sporting optics. In 1968, Leupold moved its manufacturing plant and headquarters to Beaverton, Oregon, where the company remains based.

Today, Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is a family-owned American optics manufacturer focused on sport optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use. Its product range includes riflescopes, red dot sights, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and thermal optics. Within that lineup, Leupold is especially well known for building practical field optics that emphasize durability, straightforward operation, and optical performance tailored to real hunting and shooting conditions.
