GRS Thumbhole, Steel Action HS

• Thumbhole ergonomics: The thumbhole layout gives the firing hand a more natural, repeatable position, which helps maintain control during unsupported field shots and steadies the rifle for deliberate shooting from rests or the range bench.
• Adjustable cheek piece: A height-adjustable cheek piece makes it easier to align the eye consistently behind the optic, improving comfort and helping the shooter return to the same head position from shot to shot.
• Laminate construction: The laminate build combines stiffness with good dimensional stability, giving the stock a solid feel and helping it cope better with changing weather than traditional plain wood stocks.
• Glass bedding setup: Glass bedding support helps create a more consistent action-to-stock fit, which is valuable for maintaining repeatable accuracy and stable recoil behavior, especially on harder-kicking hunting rifles.
• Built for field calibers: With support for cartridges up to .375 HH, this stock suits serious hunting use where a stable platform and secure handling matter as much as raw portability.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

GRS Thumbhole is the company’s first thumbhole stock design and sits within the brand’s laminate-stock range for shooters who want a more hand-filling, controlled grip shape than a conventional hunting stock. GRS positions the series for field hunting and range use, so the design balances practical carry characteristics with the kind of stock geometry that supports steadier shooting from improvised rests, bipods, and benches.

The series is built from birch laminate with an oiled finish, giving it the solid feel and weather resistance that laminate stocks are known for while retaining a traditional material character. A defining feature across the range is GRS SpeedLock adjustment, which reflects the brand’s focus on fast, tool-light fit changes for better alignment behind an optic. The Thumbhole family is offered in several color options, including Brown, Green Mountain Camo, Nordic Wolf, Orange, and Black, and it is made in multiple inlet configurations for different rifle platforms. In practice, the series appeals to hunters and recreational precision shooters who want a more supportive grip, adjustable fit, and the stable handling of a laminate stock.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Steel Action HS

GRS Thumbhole, Steel Action HS is a laminate hunting stock built around a thumbhole grip and an adjustable fit, making it well suited to shooters who want a more controlled hold than a standard sporter stock provides. The thumbhole shape helps keep the wrist in a relaxed angle and gives the firing hand a secure purchase, which is useful both for slow, precise shots and for maintaining control when shooting from awkward field positions. For hunting roles such as alpine hunting, driven hunt, stalking, and woodland use, that extra consistency in hand placement can make the rifle easier to manage under time pressure.

The stock uses laminate construction and weighs 1300.00 g, giving it a solid, planted feel without moving into heavy chassis territory. Its 390.00 mm length of pull and 40.00 mm forend width support a stable shoulder position and a practical front-end hold, whether the rifle is carried in the hand, rested on a support, or shot prone. The adjustable cheek piece is especially important on a scoped hunting rifle because it helps the shooter establish a repeatable cheek weld for faster sight alignment and more consistent eye position.

This version is also configured for glass bedding, which helps create a more stable interface between the action and stock and can contribute to more repeatable accuracy. With support for calibers up to .375 HH, it is intended for substantial hunting cartridges as well as standard chamberings. The non-folding design keeps the structure simple and rigid, which suits a field rifle where reliability and consistent handling take priority.

About GRS

GRS traces its roots to 1983, when the family business began as Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer in Norway. The GRS brand itself began in 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, and the company started producing laminate rifle stocks in 2011. Today, GRS Riflestocks AS remains headquartered in Hornindal and focuses on rifle stocks for hunting and shooting.

The company’s expertise centers on stock design in laminate, composite, and aluminum chassis formats, with product families such as Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok covering different shooting styles. A notable part of the brand’s design approach is GRS SpeedLock, an adjustment system developed to make stock fit changes faster and more practical. That background in ergonomics and stock construction is directly relevant to the Thumbhole series, where fit, control, and repeatable shooting position are central to the design.
