EAW pivot mount, 26 mm, Mauser K 98 with bulb Product description

  • Pivot return-to-zero design: the mount lets the scope be removed and reattached without changing the point of impact, which is valuable when a rifle is used with more than one optic or when open sights must remain accessible.
  • 26 mm ring interface: built for classic 26 mm riflescope tubes, this configuration suits traditional hunting optics while keeping the installation matched to the scope body for secure alignment.
  • Mauser K98k bulb-specific fit: the lower assembly is made for the Mauser K98k with bulb, giving a rifle-specific mounting solution instead of a generic base that may compromise fit or handling.
  • Adjustable front and rear mount-foot fit: the pivot system allows precise fitting at both contact points, helping the mount lock up consistently and maintain repeatable positioning over long-term use.
  • Steel construction: the all-steel build favors rigidity and wear resistance, which is especially important on a mount that is repeatedly detached and reinstalled in field use.

About the EAW Pivot Mounts Series

EAW Pivot Mounts are the company’s long-established quick-detachable mounting system for common rifles and long guns. EAW states that it developed and launched this pivot design more than 50 years ago, and the concept remains focused on one practical goal: allowing an optic to be removed and reattached without changing the point of impact. That makes the series particularly relevant for traditional hunting rifles, combination guns, and other firearms that may alternate between a riflescope and a second aiming device.

A defining feature of the series is its adjustable front and rear mount-foot fit, which allows careful fitting to the rifle and contributes to repeatable lock-up. Within the range, EAW offers versions for many popular firearms as well as different upper interfaces for scope tubes and rails. The series also includes a lever-operated variant intended for break-action firearms, with the closure positioned on the scope mount rather than on the firearm. Across the family, the design philosophy is mechanical precision, secure engagement, and practical interchangeability rather than bulk or unnecessary complexity.

About the EAW pivot mount, 26 mm, Mauser K 98 with bulb

This EAW pivot mount is a rifle-specific mounting solution for the Mauser K98k with bulb, paired with an upper interface for 26 mm scope tubes. That combination makes it especially suitable for classic sporting or collector-style rifle setups where a traditional 26 mm riflescope is preferred over newer 30 mm or rail-based optics. Because the mount is matched to both the rifle pattern and the scope tube diameter, it supports a cleaner, more mechanically correct installation than adapting unrelated components.

The main practical advantage of this model is the pivot quick-detach system. It allows the riflescope to be taken off and put back on while preserving the established zero, which is useful when transporting the rifle, switching to another optic, or keeping the action and sight line easier to access for maintenance. The steel construction supports that repeatability by resisting flex and wear at the locking surfaces, both of which matter in a mount designed for repeated use rather than permanent installation.

EAW’s adjustable front and rear fit also matters on a mount like this. Properly fitted engagement helps the optic return to the same position each time, which is the whole point of a detachable hunting optics mount. For owners of a Mauser K98k platform who want the handling benefits of a removable scope without giving up consistency, this model follows the traditional EAW approach closely.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. In 1923, he acquired Elektro-Dental-Werke Frankfurt and changed the EDW brand to EAW, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg. The company developed and produced its first riflescope mounts in 1945, and since 1951 mount development and production have been its primary focus.

Over time, EAW expanded its range to include pivot, slide-on or roll-off, and claw mounts for riflescopes, reflecting a strong specialization in precision mounting systems for hunting and shooting rifles. Production moved from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. Alongside mounts, EAW also offers thermal imaging cameras, and in 2023 it introduced a series of mounts for tactical applications.

So because of "with bulb" do you not need to file down the clip loading bulb to fit the bases? Best regards!

Dear Sir,

thank you for your inquiry.

Yes, this two-piece mount is meant to fit on the K98 with a loading bulb. We would appreciate it if you could help us expand our database by sending us some photos of the rifle receiver (the bare mounting surface of the rifle without the mounts installed) as we are currently updating Mauser-related data. You can contact us directly at info@optics-trade.eu

We kindly thank you for your help.

Kind regards
