DD Optics ULTRAlight 10x50 Product description

  • 10x50 configuration: The combination of 10x magnification and 50 mm objectives gives this binocular the reach for distant wildlife and landscape observation while keeping enough brightness in reserve for overcast conditions and the last part of legal light.
  • Open-bridge body: The open-bridge design makes the binocular easier to hold securely with one hand and more comfortable to carry over longer walks, which matters when moving between observation points.
  • Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms: This prism system keeps the binocular slim and easy to pack while still delivering the straight-barrel shape many users prefer for hiking, birdwatching and general field use.
  • 17 mm eye relief: The generous eye relief helps eyeglass wearers see more of the full image without struggling for position, and it also makes extended glassing sessions less tiring.
  • Nitrogen-filled waterproof construction: A sealed, fogproof housing supports reliable use in damp mornings, changing temperatures and light rain, so the binocular remains practical for regular outdoor use rather than fair-weather only.

About the DD Optics ULTRAlight Series

DD Optics ULTRAlight is the brand’s lightweight all-round binocular family for users who want practical field performance without moving into heavier specialist designs. The series currently spans 26 mm, 34 mm, 42 mm and 50 mm objective classes, with magnifications from 8x to 12x, covering everything from compact travel use to longer-range observation and twilight work. Across the range, the shared idea is portability with enough optical capability for real outdoor use.

A defining feature of the series is its open-bridge design, which improves handling and keeps the binoculars easy to carry on hikes, day trips and general nature observation. Current ULTRAlight models use polycarbonate bodies with rubber armouring, combining lower weight with the everyday durability needed for field use. The series also uses phase-coated prisms, and all current models are nitrogen-filled and waterproof to 0.5 m, which suits changing weather and cool early-morning starts. In practical terms, the ULTRAlight line is aimed at birdwatchers, hikers and hunters who want a binocular that stays manageable on the neck yet still offers enough brightness, reach and viewing comfort for longer sessions outdoors.

About the DD Optics ULTRAlight 10x50

DD Optics ULTRAlight 10x50 is the long-range, lower-light member of the ULTRAlight family. Its 10x magnification helps pull in distant detail for wildlife observation, scanning open country and following birds across wider spaces, while the 50 mm objective lenses gather more light than smaller hiking binoculars. That makes this model especially useful when observation continues into dull weather, woodland edges or the later part of the day, where smaller 10x binoculars can begin to feel less forgiving.

The optical layout combines a 5.00 mm exit pupil with a 17.00 mm eye relief, giving a view that is easier to settle behind and more comfortable over extended sessions. For eyeglass wearers, that extra eye relief is particularly important because it helps preserve the usable field of view. The 101.15 m/1000m field of view is balanced for a 10x binocular: wide enough to track movement and maintain orientation, but still focused on detail at distance.

Mechanically, the binocular uses an open-bridge polycarbonate body with central focusing, which keeps handling secure without making the instrument bulky. Schmidt/Pechan roof prisms help maintain a compact straight-barrel shape, and the fully multicoated optics support contrast and image brightness in everyday field conditions. Nitrogen filling, waterproof construction and fogproof performance make the ULTRAlight 10x50 a practical choice for hunting optics, birdwatching binoculars and general outdoor observation where distance and fading light matter more than minimum size.

About DD Optics

DD Optics is a German family-owned optics company headquartered in Chemnitz, Germany. The company says it was founded in 2007 in Dresden and moved its headquarters to Chemnitz in 2012. DD Optics focuses on optical equipment for hunting, nature observation, birdwatching and outdoor use, with a product range that includes binoculars, spotting scopes, rifle scopes and night-vision devices.

The brand is known for concentrating on practical field optics rather than novelty features. In its binocular range, DD Optics has used technologies such as ED glass, Schmidt-Pechan prisms and DDlucid coatings in higher-tier models, while keeping a clear separation between lightweight all-round products and more premium lines. The company also states that its binoculars and rifle scopes are mainly developed in Germany and mainly produced in Japan, which reflects its emphasis on combining German product direction with established optical manufacturing expertise.

Hello. I have decided to buy a more powerful binocular for twilight, but still not so heavy to carry. I would like to know your opinion about these two: KITE OPTICS Ursus 10x50 and DD Optics ULTRAlight 10x50. Both are supposed to be made in Japan with a 30 year warranty. Maybe also some suggestion from your side. Thanks and LP Drejc

Pozdrav. Odločam se za nakup zmogljivejšega daljnogleda za mrak, vendar še vedno ne tako težkega za prenašanje. Zanima me vaše mnenje o teh dveh: KITE OPTICS Ursus 10x50 in DD Optics ULTRAlight 10x50. Oba naj bi bila izdelana na Japonskem s 30 letno garancijo. Mogoče tudi kakšen predlog z vaše strani. Hvala in LP Drejc
