Athlon Cronus BTR GEN2 4.5-29x56 UHD

• 4.5-29x magnification range: This wide zoom span covers close-to-mid distance target work and reaches comfortably into long-range shooting, so one riflescope can handle load development, competition stages and extended hunting shots.
• 56 mm objective with UHD glass: The large objective and extra-low-dispersion glass help deliver a brighter, cleaner image with reduced color fringing, which makes fine target detail easier to read at high magnification.
• First focal plane illuminated reticle: Because the reticle stays in proportion as magnification changes, holdovers and ranging remain consistent throughout the zoom range, while red illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark backgrounds.
• Tactical multi-turn turrets with Precision Zero Stop: The exposed turret layout is built for regular dialing, and the zero stop gives a firm return to the original zero after elevation changes, which is especially useful in precision and field matches.
• 34 mm argon-purged tube: The larger tube supports a robust tactical layout, while the waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction helps the scope stay dependable in changing weather and hard field use.

About the Athlon Cronus BTR Series

The Athlon Cronus BTR series sits at the top end of Athlon’s riflescope range and was developed around the needs of precision long-range shooting, tactical use and extended-distance hunting. Athlon’s early riflescope plan already positioned Cronus BTR as one of its flagship families, and the line has included both compact low-power configurations and high-magnification long-range models. That broad layout gave the series a clear identity: practical, competition-oriented optics with features meant to be used rather than simply listed.

Within the family, the 4.5-29x56 format became the long-range core, offered with MOA and MIL reticle options including APLR and APRS designs. In current form, Athlon separates the Cronus BTR GEN2 UHD as its own riflescope series, reflecting a move toward higher-grade glass, refined mechanics and a more specialized precision-shooting role. The series is defined by first focal plane reticles, exposed dialing systems, large objective lenses and a mechanical design that supports frequent elevation changes and repeatable return to zero. In practical terms, Cronus BTR scopes are built for shooters who want a wide magnification range, usable reticle subtensions and dependable turret behavior in match, training and field conditions.

About the Athlon Cronus BTR GEN2 4.5-29x56 UHD

The Athlon Cronus BTR GEN2 4.5-29x56 UHD is a long-range tactical riflescope built around a combination of high magnification, a 56 mm objective and a first focal plane reticle system. That layout makes it well suited to precision rifle competition, target shooting and hunting situations where the shooter may move between observation, hold-based shooting and turret dialing in the same session. At 4.5x, the scope remains usable for finding targets and managing positional stages; at 29x, it gives the image scale needed for reading small targets and spotting subtle aiming references.

UHD glass is central to this model’s character because it helps reduce chromatic fringe and keeps the image cleaner at the upper end of the magnification range, where optical flaws become more obvious. Athlon also uses advanced fully multi-coated lenses to improve brightness, contrast and color fidelity across the visible spectrum. The result is a sight picture that supports target definition and shot correction rather than forcing the eye to work around haze or color bleed.

The FFP illuminated reticle keeps its subtensions accurate through the zoom range, which matters when holding for wind or elevation at anything other than maximum power. The red illumination is useful for drawing the eye to the center against dark targets or shaded backgrounds. Mechanically, the scope uses tactical multi-turn turrets with a Precision Zero Stop, so it is set up for regular dialing and fast return to the original zero after corrections. A side-focus parallax system and fast-focus eyepiece round out the design, helping the shooter sharpen both target image and reticle quickly from the firing position.

About Athlon

Athlon Optics was founded in 2014 and describes itself as a U.S. sports optics company. Its catalog covers riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, red-dot sights and thermal optics, with a clear focus on hunting, shooting and general outdoor use. Within that range, Athlon is known for applying features such as UHD extra-low-dispersion glass to reduce chromatic fringe, along with proprietary treatments including XPL exterior lens coating and its precision zero-stop system.

The company’s product structure is organized into recognizable lines such as Cronus and Midas, each aimed at a different level of use and budget. That lineup approach has helped Athlon build a reputation for feature-rich optics that speak directly to practical field and range requirements rather than to a single narrow discipline. In the riflescope segment, its emphasis on reticle choice, turret function and optical clarity makes the brand especially relevant to long-range and tactical shooting applications.
