Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 3x Prism Scope

• Fixed 3x prism design: Gives more target detail and more precise aiming than a non-magnified red dot, while staying faster and more compact than a variable riflescope for short- to mid-range shooting.
• Etched AR-BDC4 reticle: The reticle remains visible even if illumination is off, which helps maintain a usable aiming point in changing light or if the battery is depleted.
• Illuminated first focal plane reticle: The reticle keeps its intended scale through the optic’s fixed prism system, and the red illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark targets or busy backgrounds.
• Compact 76.00 mm housing: The short overall length keeps the sight agile on AR-platform rifles and other compact carbines, leaving room on the rail for accessories and comfortable eye placement.
• Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction: Nitrogen filling and a rugged sealed body help the optic stay dependable through rain, temperature changes, recoil, and hard field use.

About the Spitfire HD Gen II Series

The Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II series sits in the brand’s prism-sight lineup for shooters who want the speed of a compact tactical optic with more aiming precision than a simple dot can provide. Built around a fixed-magnification prism system, these sights are intended for carbines and rifles used in recreational shooting, training, and practical field use where fast target acquisition still needs to be paired with clear hold references.

A defining trait of the series is its etched-glass reticle, which remains visible without battery power and gives prism sights an advantage for shooters who prefer a crisp aiming pattern over a projected dot. The series also combines compact dimensions with durable, sealed construction suited to hard use in changing weather. In practical terms, that means a sight that handles quickly on short rifles and AR-pattern platforms, yet still offers the visual precision needed for more deliberate shots. Within the Vortex range, the Spitfire HD Gen II family fills the space between non-magnified red dots and larger riflescopes, offering a straightforward solution for users who want a robust optic with magnification, an illuminated reticle, and a compact footprint.

About the Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 3x Prism Scope

The Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 3x Prism Scope is built for shooters who want a compact optic with enough magnification to stretch beyond close-range work without moving to a full-size riflescope. Its 3x fixed magnification helps define targets more clearly and supports more precise shot placement at intermediate distances, making it a practical fit for AR-style rifles used for range work, training, and general-purpose tactical shooting.

The sight uses the AR-BDC4 reticle in an etched prism format, so the aiming pattern stays visible whether illumination is on or off. That matters in real use because the optic remains functional even if the battery is exhausted, while the red illuminated reticle helps the center aiming point stand out faster in dim light or against dark backgrounds. The 100Yds parallax setting suits the role of a mid-range prism sight and keeps the system simple, with no extra controls to manage during fast shooting.

At 76.00 mm and 255.00 g, the housing stays notably compact and light for a magnified prism optic, helping preserve the balance of a carbine and leaving rail space for other equipment. The sealed body is waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof, with nitrogen filling to resist internal fogging during rapid temperature changes. Power comes from a CR2032 battery, and the auto turn-off function helps conserve runtime when the sight is left idle between uses.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The brand entered the sport optics market in 2002 and has since focused on optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use. Its catalog spans riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dots, giving the company a broad presence across both observation and aiming optics.

Today, Vortex is headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin, and is employee-owned and operated. The company also supports its optics with ballistic tools powered by GeoBallistics technology, reflecting a wider emphasis on practical field use rather than optics alone. In the tactical space, Vortex gained further recognition in 2022, when it was selected to produce and deliver fire-control systems for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program.
