Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP

• First Focal Plane reticle: The reticle scales with magnification, so holdovers and wind calls stay consistent throughout the zoom range. That makes the scope easier to use for practical long-range shooting and for learning to dial and hold correctly.
• 6-24x magnification range: The broad zoom span gives the shooter enough field of view for target acquisition at moderate distance and enough top-end magnification for precise shot placement and spotting impacts farther out.
• Exposed tactical turrets: The multi-turn turret layout is built for regular elevation and windage corrections, helping shooters make repeatable adjustments instead of relying only on holdover estimates.
• Side parallax adjustment: Adjustable parallax from 9 m - Infinity helps keep the target and reticle on the same focal plane, which improves aiming precision at both short and extended distances.
• Fully multicoated optics: The lens coatings support a brighter, clearer image with better contrast, making it easier to resolve target detail and read conditions when shooting in mixed light.

About the Vortex Diamondback Tactical Series

Vortex Diamondback Tactical is the tactical branch of the Diamondback riflescope family, built for shooters who want a practical entry point into dialing corrections and stretching distance without moving into a heavier competition optic. The series is aimed at long-range and recreational shooting, with Vortex describing it as suitable from mid-range distances to 1,000 yards. That makes it a natural fit for newer shooters learning windage and elevation management, as well as experienced users who want a straightforward tactical riflescope for regular range work.

A defining trait of the series is its use of exposed tactical turrets, which are intended for frequent adjustment rather than set-and-forget use. Depending on the model, the line includes both first focal plane and second focal plane configurations, with reticle options such as VMR-1 and EBR-2C. The family includes compact and higher-magnification formats, including 3-9x40, 4-12x40, and 6-24x50 variants, so the series covers everything from general target shooting to more deliberate distance work.

About the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP

The Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP is the highest-magnification configuration in the series, intended for shooters who need more aiming precision at distance and enough optical reach to work small targets or refine shot placement farther downrange. Its 6-24x magnification range gives it a clear role in precision shooting, target work, and practical long-range use, while the 50.00 mm objective helps maintain a usable sight picture across the zoom range.

The scope’s first focal plane layout is especially important on a tactical riflescope like this. Because the reticle changes size with magnification, subtensions remain valid throughout the zoom range, which helps when holding for elevation or wind at whatever power best suits the shot. This is a practical advantage for shooters who alternate between scanning at lower magnification and making precise corrections at higher magnification. The design is also well suited to training, since it reinforces consistent use of reticle-based holds.

Exposed tactical turrets support regular dialing, with 18.89 mrad / 65.00 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment and 15 MOA / 6 MRAD per turn. Combined with the side-focus parallax adjustment from 9 m - Infinity, the scope is configured for deliberate shot correction rather than casual use. A 30 mm tube, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction round out a riflescope designed for repeated range sessions and field conditions where reliable tracking and a stable image matter more than unnecessary complexity.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The Vortex brand entered the sport optics market in 2002, and the company is now headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin. It is employee-owned and operated, with a product range focused on hunting, shooting, and outdoor observation.

The company’s core expertise is in sport optics, including riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dot sights. Within that lineup, families such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab show the breadth of its catalog, from shooting optics to observation gear. Vortex also uses technologies such as GeoBallistics in ballistic tools, reflecting its emphasis on practical field use rather than optics alone. In 2022, Vortex was selected to produce and deliver fire-control systems for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program, underscoring its established role in modern shooting optics and related systems.
