TacStar Universal Barrel Shroud

• Heat Shielding: The steel shroud helps protect the support hand from a hot barrel during repeated firing, making the shotgun more comfortable to handle in training, range use, or practical field work.
• Universal 12 Gauge Fit: Designed to fit most 12 gauge pump shotguns, it offers a practical upgrade path for common defensive and utility shotguns without requiring a model-specific handguard system.
• Recoil-Resistant Mounting: A circular friction-fit rear bracket and locking front clamp keep the shroud secure on the barrel, helping it stay in place under recoil and hard handling.
• All-Steel Construction: The steel body gives the shroud the rigidity and durability expected from a hard-use shotgun accessory, with better resistance to knocks and rough transport than lighter cosmetic add-ons.
• Black Oxide Finish: The non-reflective black finish suits tactical and hunting shotguns alike while adding basic surface protection for regular field and storage use.

About the TacStar Accessories Series

TacStar Accessories is a firearm-accessory line built around practical upgrades for hunters, military professionals, and law-enforcement users. The series sits within the wider Lyman brand portfolio and focuses on straightforward, durable components for shotguns and rifles rather than complex gunsmithing-heavy systems. Across the range, TacStar is known for products such as shell carriers, grips, rails, slings, and brass catchers, all aimed at improving handling, carry options, or on-gun utility.

A defining part of the series is its emphasis on functional tactical accessories that are easy to integrate into working firearms. Many TacStar products are designed to solve a specific handling or carry problem, whether that means keeping spare ammunition on the gun, improving control, or adding protection around high-contact areas. The line is especially well suited to pump-shotgun platforms, where simple, rugged accessories remain popular for defensive use, training, and field applications. In that context, the series stands out for its no-nonsense design approach, durable materials, and compatibility with widely used shotgun formats.

About the TacStar Universal Barrel Shroud

The TacStar Universal Barrel Shroud is a shotgun accessory built to add a layer of protection around the barrel where heat can become an issue during repeated firing. Its main role is simple but useful: it helps reduce direct contact with a hot barrel while also giving the shotgun a more purposeful tactical profile. For owners of working pump guns, that makes it relevant for range sessions, defensive setups, and general-purpose shotgun use where the firearm may be handled frequently between strings of fire.

This model is made from steel and finished in black oxide, giving it the stiffness and wear resistance expected from a metal shotgun part. At 350.00 mm in length, it provides substantial coverage along the barrel without turning into a full handguard replacement. TacStar designed it with a circular friction-fit bracket at the rear and a locking clamp at the front, a layout intended to keep the shroud stable under recoil. That matters in practice because a barrel-mounted accessory has to stay aligned and secure through repeated firing and transport.

The Universal Barrel Shroud is intended for most 12 gauge pump shotguns, making it a practical option for shooters who want a durable add-on without moving to a more extensive forend or rail conversion. Its value lies less in adding complexity and more in improving handling around a hot barrel while preserving a straightforward, robust shotgun setup.

About TacStar

TacStar is a firearm-accessory brand within the Lyman family. TacStar joined Lyman in 1997, expanding Lyman’s reach into the tactical and law-enforcement market. The brand became widely known for the patented SideSaddle, a shotgun shell carrier that established TacStar as a practical name in shotgun accessories.

Today, TacStar focuses on accessories for shooters who need straightforward utility rather than unnecessary complexity. Its product range includes shotgun grips, magazine extensions, rail mounts, weapon-light systems, slings, and brass catchers. That background is directly relevant to the Universal Barrel Shroud, because TacStar’s reputation was built on rugged shotgun accessories designed for hunters as well as military and law-enforcement professionals. The brand’s design approach consistently centers on durability, simple installation, and real-world handling benefits.
