Professor Optiken Staffelsee 1.5-9x42 Product description

Feature Highlights

  • Fiber Optic Reticle 4 with Illuminated Center Dot: A fine, low-coverage reticle with a centered illuminated dot in the second focal plane, adjustable across 11 brightness levels for use in both daylight and low-light conditions.
  • Wide 27.3 m Field of View at 1.5x: Combined with a 6x zoom range, this suits fast target acquisition on driven hunts as well as more deliberate shots at distance.
  • Parallax-Free Design: With no parallax adjustment needed at typical hunting ranges, the scope is well suited for mounting night vision or thermal add-on devices.
  • Duralumin Housing with All-Metal Moving Parts: Including the adjustment turrets, for a shock-resistant build tested to withstand all common hunting calibers, backed by nitrogen filling and IP6X waterproofing.

About the Staffelsee Series

The Staffelsee series is Professor Optiken's entry-level to mid-range riflescope line, designed for hunters who want a compact, lightweight riflescope suited to driven hunts, stalking, and stand hunting without a premium price tag. The series spans multiple magnification configurations, from short-range, wide-field models intended for fast target acquisition during driven hunts, to higher-magnification variants better suited to stand hunting and longer engagement distances.

All Staffelsee models share a common design philosophy: a duralumin housing with all-metal internal moving parts, nitrogen filling for waterproof, fog-free performance, and fully multicoated (FMC) optics enhanced with LD (low-dispersion) glass to reduce chromatic aberration and improve image contrast and color fidelity. A nano-coating on the lenses provides further protection against fogging.

Optically, the series is built around the luminous fiber optic reticle 4, a fine second focal plane reticle with a centered illuminated dot that can be dimmed across 11 brightness levels, remaining usable even in bright daylight while minimizing stray light at higher settings. Depending on the model, adjustment is via MOA clicks, and parallax correction is handled either through a side-focus dial or, on shorter-range models, is not required at all, keeping the shooting position stable and uncomplicated.

Despite its accessible pricing, the Staffelsee series is tested across all common hunting calibers for shock resistance, and the newer V2 generation, which includes this model, represents an update to the reticle and coating package used on earlier Staffelsee riflescopes.

About the Model (Professor Optiken Staffelsee 1.5-9x42 LD V2)

The Staffelsee 1.5-9x42 LD V2 was designed as a universal, all-round hunting riflescope. Its light, compact build and wide 27.3 m field of view at 1.5x magnification make it well suited to driven hunts, while the 6x zoom range extends usability to stalking and stand hunting at greater distances.

The scope uses an essentially parallax-free design, which removes the need for a separate parallax adjustment at common hunting ranges and makes the riflescope a practical choice for use with night vision or thermal imaging attachments. The LD (low-dispersion) coating reduces color fringing at the edges of objects, contributing to a sharper, higher-contrast, true-color sight picture, and is paired with fully multicoated (FMC) optics for improved light transmission.

The fiber optic reticle 4 sits in the second focal plane and features a fine, centered illuminated dot that keeps a constant apparent size regardless of magnification. The illumination offers 11 brightness settings, bright enough for daylight use while producing minimal stray light glow even at the highest setting.

Mechanically, the scope uses a 30 mm main tube and adjusts in 1/2 MOA clicks, with 60 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment range providing flexibility when zeroing across different calibers and mounting setups. The housing is made of duralumin with all-metal internal components, including the adjustment turrets, and the scope is nitrogen-purged and waterproof to IP6X, with testing performed across common hunting calibers for shot resistance. At just 560 g and 327 mm in length, it stays light and compact on the rifle.

About the Manufacturer

Professor Optiken is a German optics company based in Chemnitz, Saxony, founded in 2020. The company originally built its business around thermal imaging devices before expanding into a broader catalog that now includes riflescopes, binoculars, reflex sights, night vision, and thermal imaging equipment, along with related accessories.

Professor Optiken's stated approach is to offer good build quality and features at accessible price points, aiming to make optics equipment approachable for hunters and shooters who want dependable gear without a premium-brand price tag. The company backs its optical products — binoculars, riflescopes, and reflex sights — with a 10-year warranty on the optic and its components.
