Minox X-Universal 10x50 Product description

  • 10x50 configuration: The combination of 10x magnification and a 50.00 mm objective gives this binocular the reach needed for scanning distant game while keeping a bright 5.00 mm exit pupil for more relaxed viewing in fading light.
  • ED lens system with wide field of view: The X-UNIVERSAL concept pairs ED glass with a 115.00 m/1000m field of view, helping reduce color fringing and making it easier to follow moving wildlife across open ground or woodland edges.
  • Magnesium housing: A magnesium body keeps the binocular strong without unnecessary bulk, which matters on long hunts, extended observation sessions, and regular field carry.
  • IPX-7 waterproof and nitrogen-filled: IPX-7 sealing and nitrogen purging help the binocular stay dependable in rain, cold air, and rapid temperature changes by resisting water ingress and internal fogging.
  • Eyeglass-friendly adjustment range: With +/- 5 diopter adjustment and eyepiece-based setup, the binocular can be tuned precisely to the user’s eyesight for a sharper, less fatiguing image over long periods behind the glass.

About the Minox X-UNIVERSAL Series

MINOX X-UNIVERSAL is a newer binocular family in the company’s current range and is positioned as “The Classic” within the MINOX lineup. The series is built for hunting and wildlife observation, covering the core formats many users rely on most: 8x42, 10x42, and 10x50. Rather than chasing specialist extremes, the X-UNIVERSAL concept focuses on the practical balance of brightness, field coverage, and field durability that makes sense for everyday use outdoors.

Across the series, MINOX uses ED lenses and a wide field of view to support cleaner image rendition and easier target acquisition when scanning woodland, field edges, or open country. The mechanical design follows the same practical approach, with magnesium housings for strength and reduced carry weight, plus nitrogen purging and IPX7 waterproofing for dependable use in wet or changeable weather. In short, the X-UNIVERSAL line is aimed at users who want a traditional hunting binocular format with modern materials and optical refinement, without moving into oversized or highly specialized designs.

About the Minox X-Universal 10x50

The Minox X-Universal 10x50 is the longest-reaching model in the series and is especially well suited to hunters and wildlife observers who spend time glassing at medium to long distances. Its 10.00 x magnification gives noticeably more detail on distant animals than an 8x binocular, while the 50.00 mm objective lenses maintain a generous level of image brightness. That balance is particularly useful at first and last light, where the 5.00 mm exit pupil helps keep the view comfortable and easy to acquire.

Optically, this model combines a 115.00 m/1000m field of view with strong light transmission figures of ≥88 (Day) / ≥85 (Night). In practice, that means the binocular remains usable for broad-area scanning instead of feeling overly narrow, while still delivering the brightness expected from a 10x50 format. The Roof - Schmidt/Pechan prism design keeps the body slimmer and easier to carry than a bulkier porro alternative, which matters when the binocular is worn all day on a strap or harness.

Mechanically, the binocular is built around a magnesium chassis with a central focusing system and a single hinge body. This gives it a familiar handling pattern and solid feel in the hand. IPX-7 waterproofing, fogproof construction, and nitrogen filling support reliable use in rain, cold mornings, and shifting temperatures. The broad 56.00 mm to 76.00 mm interpupillary range and +/- 5 diopter adjustment also make it easier to tailor the binocular to different users and viewing preferences.

About Minox

MINOX GmbH was founded in 1945 in Wetzlar, Germany, and the company’s roots go back to the miniature-camera work of engineer Walter Zapp, who designed the first MINOX prototype in 1936. MINOX later expanded into sport optics in the 1990s and developed a broader portfolio that includes binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, night-vision devices, and wildlife cameras.

The company became an independent business after separating from Leica Camera AG in 2005, joined the Blaser Group in 2013, and relocated to Isny, Germany on February 1, 2020. In hunting and sport optics, MINOX is known for combining practical field design with compact engineering, and product families such as the ZP riflescope series helped establish the brand’s reputation among demanding outdoor users.
