Meprolight Tru-Dot for S&W Revolvers

• Self-illuminated tritium system: the Meprolight Tru-Dot stays visible in low light and at night without batteries, so the sight picture is ready whenever the revolver is drawn.
• Three-dot alignment: the 3-dot layout gives a familiar front-and-rear reference that helps speed up sight alignment in both daylight and darkness.
• Steel construction: the steel body is suited to regular carry and range use, helping the sights hold up to recoil, holster wear, and routine handling.
• Fixed sight setup: a fixed configuration keeps the system simple and robust, making it well suited to defensive revolvers where dependable zero matters more than frequent adjustment.
• S&W revolver fit: this model is made for S&W revolvers, giving owners a direct night-sight upgrade tailored to the platform rather than a generic solution.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot Series

Meprolight Tru-Dot is the company’s established line of handgun night sights, built around a simple idea: keep the sight picture consistent from bright daylight to low-light and nighttime use. In Meprolight’s current handgun catalog, the series includes fixed, adjustable, and suppressor-height sights, which places Tru-Dot as a broad family for shooters who want a traditional iron-sight layout with passive illumination. The core technology is tritium illumination, which provides a visible aiming reference without batteries and without changing the basic handling of the pistol or revolver.

Across the range, Tru-Dot sights are designed as replacement front and rear sights for specific handgun platforms from multiple manufacturers. The familiar three-dot sight picture is intended to remain easy to read in daylight while still giving a clear reference after dark. Within the series, some variants add windage and elevation adjustment, while others are configured for suppressor-equipped handguns or offer different tritium dot color combinations. That makes the Tru-Dot family relevant to defensive carry, duty use, home protection, and general range shooting where a durable, always-on iron sight remains important.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot for S&W Revolvers

The Meprolight Tru-Dot for S&W Revolvers is a fixed tritium night sight set built for shooters who want a dependable iron-sight upgrade on a Smith & Wesson revolver. Its main advantage is practical rather than complicated: the sights remain visible in poor light without switches, batteries, or charging, while preserving the straightforward handling that revolver users often prefer. For defensive use, bedside storage, or range sessions that continue into dim conditions, that means the revolver keeps a clear aiming reference when standard black sights become harder to pick up.

The sight picture uses a green 3-dot alignment with a square rear sight, a layout that balances speed and familiarity. The three-dot arrangement helps the eye center the front sight quickly, while the square rear notch supports a clean, conventional sight picture that many shooters already know well from service-style handguns. Because the system is self-illuminated, the dots are present at all times rather than depending on ambient light or electronic controls.

Mechanically, this model uses a steel construction and a fixed adjustment format. That combination suits revolvers carried regularly or used hard, because it prioritizes durability and a stable zero over extra complexity. The black finish keeps the body visually unobtrusive in daylight, while the illuminated dots remain the focal point when lighting drops. For S&W revolver owners who want a robust day-and-night sighting solution, this Tru-Dot set stays close to the familiar feel of factory irons while adding low-light capability.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. Its product range covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, night-vision systems, and thermal devices, with products made for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines.

That background is especially relevant to handgun sights such as the Tru-Dot series, where reliability, simple operation, and low-light visibility matter more than unnecessary complexity. As a division of SK Group, Meprolight has built its reputation around practical sighting systems that serve both duty and sporting roles, with tritium-based iron sights remaining one of its most recognizable product categories.
