Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger Mini 14 (Front Sight)

• Self-illuminated tritium front sight: the front dot stays visible in low light and at night without batteries, so the rifle remains ready for use at any hour.
• Simple front-sight aiming reference: the bright green dot gives the eye a clear focal point, helping speed up sight acquisition on a Ruger Mini 14.
• Steel construction: the sight body is built for hard use and resists the knocks and handling wear that come with a working rifle.
• Fixed design: a non-adjustable front sight keeps the setup straightforward and durable, with fewer parts to shift or loosen over time.
• Made for post-2006 Ruger Mini 14 rifles: this model is intended for compatible rifles from 2006 onward, making it a dedicated replacement rather than a universal compromise.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot Series

Meprolight Tru-Dot sights are built around a simple idea: provide a sight picture that remains usable in both daylight and low-light conditions without relying on batteries. In the current catalog, the Tru-Dot series includes fixed, adjustable, and suppressor-height configurations, with models made for firearms from multiple manufacturers. That broad fitment makes the line relevant to shooters who want a direct replacement sight rather than a major change to the handling of the firearm.

A defining feature of the series is its tritium-based illumination, which provides a constant aiming reference in darkness while preserving the familiar look of iron sights in normal light. Depending on the model, the series can also offer different dot color combinations and sight heights to suit different applications. Across the range, the design focus stays practical: durable metal construction, a familiar sight picture, and installation on compatible factory dovetails or sight bases. For shooters who prefer traditional sights but need better visibility after dark, Tru-Dot sights fill the gap between standard irons and electronic optics.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger Mini 14 (Front Sight)

The Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger Mini 14 (Front Sight) is a dedicated rifle night sight for Ruger Mini 14 rifles manufactured from 2006 onward. As a front-sight replacement, it focuses on the part of the sight picture the eye naturally picks up first. The green tritium dot gives the shooter a clear front reference in dim interiors, at dusk, or in full darkness, where a plain black front blade can disappear against the target or background.

Because this is a self-illuminated design, there are no switches, brightness settings, or batteries to manage. That matters on a defensive or utility rifle, where simplicity and immediate readiness are often more important than added controls. The fixed configuration also supports that role: it keeps the sight robust and uncomplicated, with less to snag, shift, or require adjustment in the field.

The sight body is made from steel, which suits a rifle platform that may see regular transport, storage, and repeated recoil. Its black finish keeps the appearance subdued, while the illuminated green dot remains the visual priority when the light drops. At 100.00 g, it remains a compact component rather than a bulky add-on. For shooters who want to retain the speed and familiarity of iron sights on a Mini 14 while improving low-light usability, this front sight offers a focused, purpose-built upgrade.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. Its product range covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, and thermal sights, along with other sighting systems for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines.

As a division of SK Group, Meprolight has built its reputation around durable aiming systems designed for practical field use rather than range-only specialization. That background is especially relevant in products such as the Tru-Dot line, where rugged construction and always-ready illumination are central to the design. The company’s experience across both mechanical sights and electro-optical devices gives it a broad footing in modern shooting optics.
