GRS Thumbhole, Mauser M98

• Thumbhole hunting ergonomics: The thumbhole grip promotes a repeatable hand position and steady trigger control, which helps the rifle settle naturally for field shots as well as supported range work.
• SpeedLock adjustment: Tool-free cheekpiece adjustment makes it easier to align the eye behind the optic quickly, improving comfort and consistency when changing clothing layers or shooting positions.
• Birch laminate construction: The laminate stock combines rigidity with good dimensional stability, giving the rifle a solid platform that suits regular hunting use and repeated practice.
• Glass-bedding design: A stock built around glass bedding supports a more stable action fit, which is valuable for shooters who want dependable zero retention and consistent accuracy.
• Magnum-capable platform: Compatibility up to .375 HH makes this stock suitable not only for standard hunting rifles, but also for heavier-recoiling setups that need a secure, well-shaped stock.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

GRS Thumbhole is the company’s first thumbhole stock and sits within the brand’s laminate-stock range as a practical option for hunters and recreational rifle shooters who want a more supportive grip shape than a conventional sporter stock. GRS positions the series for field hunting and shooting-range use, so the design balances carry-friendly proportions with the adjustability needed for scoped rifles.

A defining feature of the series is GRS SpeedLock adjustment, which gives the stock the quick-fit character GRS is known for. Combined with the thumbhole layout, this helps shooters achieve a more natural head position and a steadier hold behind the rifle. The series is made from birch laminate with an oiled finish, giving it the dense, stable feel associated with laminate stocks while preserving a traditional appearance. GRS offers the Thumbhole in several finishes, including Brown, Green Mountain Camo, Nordic Wolf, Orange, and Black, and the range includes inlets for multiple rifle brands and actions.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Mauser M98

GRS Thumbhole, Mauser M98 adapts the Thumbhole concept to the classic Mauser M98 action, giving this well-known rifle platform a more modern stock geometry without losing the solid feel many hunters prefer. The thumbhole grip supports a relaxed wrist angle and a more controlled firing hand position, which is especially useful when shooting from improvised rests, prone positions, or from a stand where a stable hold matters more than speed alone.

The stock uses laminate construction and weighs 1300.00 g, which helps keep the rifle steady without making it excessively bulky for stalking or woodland hunting. A 390.00 mm length of pull and 40.00 mm forend width give it proportions suited to practical hunting use, while the adjustable cheekpiece helps the shooter maintain proper eye alignment with a mounted scope. That matters on older action types such as the M98, where stock fit has a direct effect on comfort and repeatability behind modern optics.

The stock is configured for glass bedding, a sensible choice for a rifle intended for dependable field accuracy, and it is rated for calibers up to .375 HH. With applications that include alpine hunting, driven hunt, stalking, and woodland hunting, this model suits shooters who want a traditional material with more adaptable fit and more deliberate rifle control than a standard factory stock typically provides.

About GRS

GRS began in 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, growing out of the family business Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer established in 1983. The company focuses on rifle stocks for hunting and shooting and produces laminate and composite stocks as well as aluminum chassis models. This background helps explain why GRS products combine shaped ergonomics with practical adjustability rather than following a purely tactical or purely traditional approach.

GRS started making laminate rifle stocks in 2011 and has since built a product range that includes the Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok lines. One of the brand’s notable design elements is GRS SpeedLock, an adjustment system used on its rifle stocks to simplify fit changes. With headquarters in Hornindal, Norway, GRS has established a clear specialization in rifle-stock design for shooters who want improved fit, stable materials, and field-oriented ergonomics.
