Discovery Optics HD 3-18x50

• 3-18x magnification range: Covers everything from closer woodland shots to deliberate work at distance, so one riflescope can handle hunting, range practice, and general precision shooting without feeling over-specialized.
• First focal plane illuminated reticle: The reticle scales with magnification, keeping holdover references consistent across the zoom range, while the red illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark targets and cluttered backgrounds.
• 34 mm main tube with 14.50 mrad adjustment: The larger tube and generous elevation and windage travel give more room for dialing corrections, which is useful when stretching distance or matching the scope to different rifle setups.
• Side focus parallax adjustment from 13 m to infinity: Fine parallax control keeps the target and reticle on the same optical plane, improving aiming precision at both short and long distances without breaking shooting position.
• Fully multicoated, nitrogen-filled construction: The coatings support image contrast and brightness, while the waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof build helps the scope stay usable in rain, temperature changes, and repeated recoil.

About the Discovery Optics HD Series

The Discovery Optics HD series is positioned as a precision-optics riflescope family built for field hunting, long-range use, and precision shooting. Within the brand’s lineup, the HD models sit as capable first focal plane scopes that combine practical field durability with the features shooters expect for measured holdovers and dialing corrections. The series uses HD optical glass and multilayer lens coatings, a combination aimed at delivering a clear sight picture with solid contrast and enough image definition to read targets and terrain more confidently across changing distances.

A defining characteristic of the range is that the current HD collection is listed as first focal plane, making it especially relevant for shooters who want reticle subtensions to remain valid throughout the magnification range. Discovery Optics also presents the series as nitrogen-purged, fogproof, and rated to IP67 water protection, with stated recoil resistance up to 1500G. Across the family, configurations include MRAD, MOA, and MIL options, and some variants add zero-stop or locking turrets, so the series covers both straightforward field use and more dial-intensive precision applications.

About the Discovery Optics HD 3-18x50

The Discovery Optics HD 3-18x50 is a versatile tactical riflescope that bridges the gap between a general-purpose hunting optic and a more deliberate long-range setup. Its 3-18x magnification range gives it broad utility: lower power remains practical for scanning and engaging at moderate distances, while the top end provides the image scale needed for precise shot placement, target identification, and reading small aiming points farther out. That flexibility makes it well suited to shooters who want one optic for mixed terrain, varied target sizes, and rifles that may be used both on the range and in the field.

The scope’s first focal plane design is especially important in this role because holdover and ranging references stay proportionate as magnification changes. In practice, that means the reticle remains usable whether the shooter is backing off magnification for a wider view or turning up power for a more exact shot. Red illumination adds visibility when the reticle would otherwise blend into dark cover or low-contrast backgrounds, and the fact that it is described as daytime-usable makes it more relevant for bright outdoor conditions than low-level illumination alone.

Mechanically, the scope is built around a 34 mm tube with 14.50 mrad of elevation and windage adjustment, giving useful dialing range for trajectory correction. The tactical multi-turn turrets suit shooters who prefer to dial rather than rely only on reticle holds, while the absence of zero stop keeps the layout straightforward. A side focus parallax adjustment from 13 m to infinity helps maintain a sharp, stable aiming picture across a wide spread of distances. Combined with fully multicoated optics, 90-100 mm eye relief, and a waterproof, fogproof, shockproof housing, the scope is configured for practical use on centerfire rifles in changing weather and shooting positions.

About Discovery Optics

Discovery Optics states that it was established in 2009 and lists its main operations in Bao'an, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The company focuses on optics for shooting and hunting, with a product range that includes riflescopes as well as other electro-optical sighting devices. Within its riflescope catalog, Discovery Optics offers both first-focal-plane and second-focal-plane reticles, covering use cases from straightforward hunting setups to more measurement-driven precision shooting.

The brand’s lineup includes series such as XED, ED, LHD, and HD, showing a broad emphasis on riflescopes across different price and feature levels. Discovery Optics also lists thermal imaging solutions for hunting, which places the company not only in conventional day optics but also in modern electro-optical products for low-visibility field use. That mix of traditional scopes and digital or thermal devices reflects a manufacturer centered on aiming systems rather than general outdoor optics.
