Caldwell AR500 Swinging Target

• 3/8" AR500 steel target: Rifle-rated AR500 steel stands up to repeated centerfire rifle and handgun impacts, making the target suitable for regular practice without the short service life of softer steel.
• Swinging target action: The moving target gives immediate visual feedback after each hit, helping confirm impacts quickly and keeping training sessions faster and more engaging.
• Cast urethane frame connectors: These connectors keep the frame rigid while allowing bullets to pass through without damaging the connector itself, reducing wear on the support structure.
• Portable steel frame: Solid steel legs and crossbar create a stable setup, yet the design remains easy to transport and position on different range layouts.
• Ground-stake stability: Four included ground stakes help secure the target during higher-energy rifle use, improving stability and keeping the setup consistent through longer shooting sessions.

About the Caldwell Accessories Series

The Caldwell Accessories series covers a broad range of practical shooting equipment built around range use, firearms handling, and training support. Rather than focusing on one narrow product type, this series brings together the kind of gear shooters use to build a complete setup, from support equipment and protective products to target-related accessories. In Caldwell’s lineup, it sits as a utility-focused family intended for recreational shooters, training use, and general range work where straightforward function matters more than unnecessary complexity.

Across the series, the emphasis is on durable materials, simple handling, and designs that are easy to transport, set up, and integrate into a regular shooting routine. That approach makes the series relevant to shooters who want dependable equipment for repeated use on private land or established ranges. While the Caldwell Accessories name spans very different products, the common thread is a practical field-and-range design philosophy: equipment that supports safer handling, more efficient practice, and a more organized shooting session.

About the Caldwell AR500 Swinging Target

The Caldwell AR500 Swinging Target is built for shooters who want a reusable steel target with clear hit indication and a more dynamic response than a fixed plate. Its 3/8" rifle-rated AR500 steel construction is intended for centerfire rifles and handguns, giving it the durability needed for repeated impact over extended practice sessions. That makes it well suited to general marksmanship work, informal competition, and training drills where paper targets would need constant replacement.

The swinging design adds a practical advantage beyond simple durability. Because the plate moves visibly when struck, the shooter gets instant visual confirmation of a hit without walking downrange. This is especially useful when practicing at longer distances or when alternating between multiple drills. The frame uses cast urethane connectors that keep the structure rigid while allowing rounds to pass through without quickly destroying key support points, helping the target stay serviceable over time.

Its steel legs and crossbar provide a stable base, and the crossbar can be replaced by 1/2" rebar if needed, which is a practical detail for shooters who want a target that is easy to maintain in the field. The target is also supplied with 4 ground stakes to help secure the frame during heavier rifle impacts. Overall, this target is designed for portable use, repeated setup, and the kind of immediate feedback that makes steel-target practice efficient and easy to follow.
