Zeiss Z-Point (Picatinny) Product description

  • 3.5 MOA illuminated dot: The red aiming point is easy to pick up against dark game, shaded woodland and mixed backgrounds, helping with fast target acquisition at short to medium hunting distances.
  • True 1x reflex-style aiming: The non-magnifying design supports shooting with both eyes open, which improves awareness of moving game and makes the sight well suited to driven hunts and fast follow-up shots.
  • Compact Picatinny mount format: With its integrated Picatinny interface and short 64.00 mm body, the sight adds little bulk to the firearm and keeps handling quick and balanced.
  • Dual-power operating concept: The Z-Point series combines a solar cell with a CR 2032 battery, reducing battery dependence in daylight use while retaining dependable electronic illumination.
  • Sealed, nitrogen-filled housing: Waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction helps the sight stay clear and functional through rain, temperature changes and repeated field use.

About the Zeiss Z-Point Series

The ZEISS Z-Point series is a non-magnifying red-dot reflex sight family developed for fast shooting at close and moderate distances. ZEISS dates the Z-Point to 2003, and the concept remains focused on practical hunting use where speed matters more than magnification. It is particularly associated with drive hunts, where the shooter needs an unobstructed view, rapid target pickup and the ability to keep both eyes open while tracking moving game.

A defining feature of the Z-Point family is its dual power supply. The sight uses a solar cell together with a CR 2032 battery, so available ambient light can support operation while the battery remains essential for use. ZEISS also built in an automatic shut-off after four hours, a sensible feature for a sight intended to be carried in the field and brought into action quickly. Within the series, ZEISS offered versions tailored to specific firearms such as the Sauer 303 and Blaser F3, alongside the standard rail-mounted model. That standard version uses a tool-free spring clamp for Picatinny or Weaver rails, keeping installation simple while preserving the compact, low-profile character expected from a driven-hunt red dot sight.

About the Zeiss Z-Point (Picatinny)

The Zeiss Z-Point (Picatinny) is the rail-mounted version of this compact hunting red dot sight, built for shooters who want a fast, simple aiming solution on a wide range of firearms equipped with a Picatinny interface. Its small tube-style body keeps the sight protected while remaining light at 160.00 g, so it adds little weight to the rifle and does not make the setup feel top-heavy or slow in the hands. That matters when the firearm is carried for long periods or brought to the shoulder quickly on moving targets.

The 3.50 MOA red dot is sized for speed. It is large enough to stand out immediately when the rifle is mounted, yet still precise enough for confident shot placement at the practical distances where a 1x sight is normally used. Because the sight is non-magnifying, it supports a natural, both-eyes-open shooting style that helps maintain peripheral awareness and makes target transitions quicker than with a magnified optic.

Mechanically, the Z-Point uses 10mm/100m - 0.10MIL click adjustment, giving straightforward zeroing without over-fine corrections that slow setup. Fully multicoated lenses help preserve contrast and brightness, which is especially useful when game appears against dark cover or in uneven light. The nitrogen-filled housing, together with waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction, makes the sight suitable for hard field use where weather, recoil and temperature changes can challenge less protected optics.

About Zeiss

Carl Zeiss opened an optical and precision-mechanics workshop in Jena in 1846. From those beginnings, ZEISS grew into a German optics company headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany, with a long-standing reputation for precision optical design. In sport optics, ZEISS develops binoculars, riflescopes and spotting scopes for hunting and outdoor use, and its range includes established lines such as Victory RF, Victory HT, Conquest and Terra ED.

The company is also known for proprietary optical technologies used across its sport-optics products. ZEISS T* lens coating is used to improve light transmission and image quality, while ZEISS LotuTec adds a protective exterior coating that helps water shed from the lens surface more easily. This background in premium optical engineering is directly relevant to compact aiming optics such as the Z-Point, where clarity, durability and dependable field performance matter as much as speed.
