ThermTec Ares 660 2.0 Product description

  • Dual field of view 20/60 mm optics: The switch between 1.1x wide-angle viewing and 3.2x tighter optical magnification lets the sight cover both scanning and more deliberate shot placement without changing devices.
  • 640x512, 12 μm thermal sensor: The high-resolution sensor gives a denser thermal image, helping separate animals, terrain edges, and background heat more clearly at longer distances.
  • NETD 20 mK sensitivity: Strong thermal sensitivity improves the visibility of small temperature differences, which matters in rain, humidity, and low-contrast night conditions where weaker sensors lose detail.
  • AMOLED display with recording and WiFi: The 1024×768 display presents a crisp viewing image, while onboard recording and wireless connectivity make it easier to review shots, save observations, and share footage.
  • Tube-style housing with long battery life: The traditional riflescope form, 30 mm ring mounting compatibility, and up to 12.00 h battery life suit longer outings and familiar rifle setups.

About the ThermTec Ares 2.0 Series

ThermTec Ares 2.0 is a current thermal imaging sight family introduced on September 10, 2024 and positioned in ThermTec’s thermal-imaging-sight range for users who want a conventional riflescope layout with modern thermal capability. The series covers both standard Ares 2.0 models and Ares LRF 2.0 versions, with the latter adding an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation for shooters who need more support at distance.

Across the lineup, the series combines 12 μm uncooled thermal detectors with a tube-style design intended for observation and night hunting. Buyers can choose between models with fixed 35 mm or 50 mm lenses and dual-field-of-view versions using 20 mm/60 mm optics, so the range spans compact general-purpose setups as well as more adaptable sights for mixed terrain. A shared feature of the family is AI-assisted image calibration, designed to keep the image stable as environmental conditions change. That focus on image consistency, together with multiple model formats and LRF options, gives the Ares 2.0 series a practical role for hunters who want thermal performance in a familiar optic form.

About the ThermTec Ares 660 2.0

ThermTec Ares 660 2.0 is the dual-field-of-view model in the series for users who want one thermal riflescope to handle both wide-area scanning and more deliberate target assessment. Its defining feature is the 20 mm/60 mm F1.0 optical system, which gives a broad 21.7° view at 1.1x for searching hedgerows, woodland edges, or open fields, then shifts to 3.2x with a narrower field for better target discrimination and shot placement. That makes it especially useful where engagement distances and terrain can change quickly during the same outing.

The sight is built around a 640x512 VOx uncooled sensor with 12.00 μm pixel pitch, 20.00 mK NETD, and a 50.00 Hz refresh rate. In practice, that combination supports a smoother image and better separation of subtle heat signatures, helping the user read animal outlines and background detail more confidently in difficult weather and low-contrast scenes. A stated 2600.00 m detection range adds reach for observation, while the 1024×768 AMOLED display keeps the viewing image clear inside the eyepiece.

For field use, the Ares 660 2.0 also brings practical digital features rather than just raw sensor performance. It offers 7 reticles with illumination, image capture, video recording, video output, and Wifi connectivity, so the sight works not only as an aiming device but also as a tool for documenting and reviewing what was seen. The 18650 power system, up to 12.00 h battery life, and waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction support longer sessions in changing outdoor conditions.

About ThermTec

ThermTec Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2011 and is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. The company develops and manufactures infrared thermal-imaging systems and solutions, with work that includes optics design, detector production, and AI-driven calibration. That background is directly relevant to products such as thermal sights, where image processing, detector behavior, and optical design all shape field performance.

In its outdoor range, ThermTec produces thermal monoculars, imaging sights, clip-on devices, and multispectrum binoculars. The company also states that it uses proprietary NST algorithms and patented image-processing technologies, reflecting a focus on extracting a stable, readable image from compact thermal devices. Within the hunting and observation segment, ThermTec has built a product portfolio centered on practical thermal imaging rather than conventional daylight optics.
