ThermTec Ares 650 2.0 Product description

  • 640x512 thermal sensor with 12 μm pitch: delivers a detailed thermal image that helps separate animals, terrain and background clutter more clearly, especially when scanning mixed cover or identifying targets at longer distances.
  • ≤18 mK sensitivity: picks up small temperature differences that matter in damp, cold or low-contrast conditions, so heat signatures remain easier to read when the environment becomes challenging.
  • 50 mm F1.0 objective and 2600 m detection range: combines strong thermal intake with long-distance detection, giving the scope the reach needed for open-ground observation and night hunting.
  • AMOLED display with smooth digital zoom: the 1024×768 screen presents a crisp viewing image, while 1.0-4.0x digital zoom helps refine aiming without making the interface slow or awkward to use.
  • Dual-battery power system: with a replaceable 18650 or 18500 battery plus an internal 18650 battery and up to 16.00 h of battery life, the scope is built for longer sessions where frequent battery changes are a disadvantage.

About the ThermTec Ares 2.0 Series

ThermTec Ares 2.0 is a current family of thermal imaging sights introduced on September 10, 2024 as part of ThermTec’s thermal-imaging-sight range. The series is built for users who need a dedicated thermal riflescope for observation and night hunting, with a lineup that covers both straightforward fixed-lens models and more advanced variants with added ranging capability. Across the range, ThermTec uses uncooled 12 μm detectors and AI-assisted image calibration intended to keep the image stable as weather, background temperature and viewing conditions change.

The series includes models with 35 mm and 50 mm fixed lenses, as well as dual-field-of-view versions for shooters who want more flexibility between wider scanning and tighter target observation. LRF versions add an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation, while the standard Ares 2.0 models focus on a simpler thermal sight format. That makes the series broad enough for hunters who prioritize either lower complexity or more data-driven shot placement. In practical terms, the Ares 2.0 family combines a traditional tube-style layout with modern thermal functions, giving users a familiar riflescope form factor together with digital imaging, multiple reticle options and image-processing support aimed at maintaining a consistent sight picture in changing field conditions.

About the ThermTec Ares 650 2.0

ThermTec Ares 650 2.0 is the fixed-lens 50 mm model in the standard Ares 2.0 line, built around a 640x512 VOx uncooled sensor with 12.00 μm pixel pitch and 18.00 mK NETD. In use, that combination gives the scope the thermal sensitivity needed to show finer heat differences, which is especially useful when animals do not stand out strongly from the background. The 50.00 mm F1.0 objective supports the sensor with strong thermal collection, while the 2600.00 m detection range makes this model well suited to open terrain, field edges and longer observation distances.

Its 2.80x optical magnification gives a more deliberate starting view than lower-magnification thermal sights, helping the Ares 650 2.0 favor target assessment and shot placement over very wide-area scanning. At the same time, the 8.80° field of view remains practical for tracking movement and maintaining orientation. The 1024×768 AMOLED display provides a clear viewing image with good contrast, and the smooth 1.0-4.0x digital zoom lets the user enlarge the image progressively rather than jumping through coarse steps.

This model also emphasizes field usability. It offers 7 reticles, reticle illumination, picture-in-picture, five zeroing profiles, manual and auto image calibration, plus recording functions including image capture, video and audio recording. Built-in 64GB memory and WiFi hotspot connectivity support review and transfer of footage, while the tube-style body fits standard 30 mm rings for straightforward mounting. With a dual-battery arrangement and 16.00 h battery life, the Ares 650 2.0 is configured for longer outings where endurance matters as much as image quality.

About ThermTec

ThermTec Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2011 and is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. The company develops and manufactures infrared thermal-imaging systems and solutions, with expertise that spans optics design, detector production and AI-driven calibration. That background is directly relevant to products such as thermal riflescopes, where image processing, detector performance and optical integration all shape how usable the sight is in the field.

ThermTec’s outdoor range includes thermal monoculars, imaging sights, clip-on devices and multispectrum binoculars. The company also states that it uses proprietary NST algorithms and patented image-processing technologies, reflecting a focus on extracting a stable, readable image from compact thermal devices. Within the hunting and observation market, ThermTec is known primarily for dedicated thermal optics rather than conventional glass riflescopes, which gives the brand a specialized position in this category.
