Schmidt & Bender 1-8x24 Exos TMR Product description

  • True 1-8x magnification range: The wide zoom range covers close, fast shooting at 1x and gives enough top-end magnification for more deliberate shots, so one riflescope can handle driven hunts and general hunting use.
  • Close Combat Mode: Schmidt & Bender’s patented CC Mode automatically sets the scope for parallax-free shooting at very short distance on true 1x, helping with faster target acquisition when game appears suddenly at close range.
  • Daylight-bright illuminated reticle: The red illuminated reticle stays easy to pick up against dark backgrounds and in changing light, which helps keep the aiming point clear during rapid target engagement.
  • Second focal plane reticle design: The reticle keeps the same apparent size throughout the zoom range, making it quick to see at low power and visually clean at higher magnification.
  • Compact 30 mm build: With a 30 mm tube, 291.00 mm length and 550.00 g weight, this riflescope remains compact enough for lively hunting rifles while still offering an 8x zoom ratio.

About the Schmidt & Bender Exos Series

Schmidt & Bender Exos is the company’s high-zoom hunting riflescope line, developed for hunters who want broad versatility without moving to a bulky platform. In the current range, the series includes the 1-8x24 and 3-21x50, giving the family a clear role between fast short-range hunting optics and more reach-oriented general hunting scopes. The 1-8x24 began life in the Zenith line in 2011 and was later moved into the Exos family because its 8x zoom concept fit the series direction.

Across the line, Exos models use a second-focal-plane reticle and illuminated reticle system, a combination that suits practical hunting use where a constant reticle appearance and strong visibility matter more than ranging features tied to magnification. The series is built around a compact hunting format, with emphasis on broad field of view, intuitive handling and dependable low-light-capable optics rather than oversized tactical controls. In use, Exos riflescopes are aimed at hunters who may move between woodland, field edge and mixed terrain, and who want one optic that remains fast at short distance while still giving enough magnification for more careful shot placement.

About the Schmidt & Bender 1-8x24 Exos TMR

The Schmidt & Bender 1-8x24 Exos TMR is built for hunters who need a riflescope that stays genuinely fast at close range but does not stop there. Its 1.00-8.00 x magnification range makes it suitable for driven hunting, woodland stalking and other situations where target distance can change quickly. At the low end, the very wide 35.30 m/100m field of view supports rapid target pickup and better awareness of movement around the animal. At the high end, 8.00 x gives enough image scale for more precise placement when the shot opens up.

A defining feature of this model is Close Combat Mode, which is designed to improve very short-range handling on true 1x. Combined with the generous 9.60 mm exit pupil at low magnification and a constant 90.00 mm eye relief, the scope is easier to mount quickly behind the rifle and more forgiving when shooting positions are less than ideal. The illuminated red reticle adds a clear aiming point that remains easy to see in dark cover or against complex backgrounds, while the second focal plane layout keeps the reticle visually consistent as magnification changes.

The TMR configuration also adds practical handling advantages. Schmidt & Bender describes the TMR version as compatible with the optional Throw Lever magnification lever, which allows faster zoom changes when moving between close and intermediate distances. Capped, locking turrets suit a hunting riflescope carried through brush or on a sling, because they help prevent accidental adjustment while keeping the optic streamlined. With a 30 mm tube, waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction, and a compact overall form, this model is designed for hard field use rather than bench-only shooting.

About Schmidt & Bender

Schmidt & Bender was founded in 1957 by Helmut Schmidt and Helmut Bender in Biebertal-Fellingshausen, Germany. The company remains based in Biebertal and is known for making precision riflescopes for hunting, competition shooting, police and military use. That broad focus helps explain why its optics often combine hunting-friendly handling with the mechanical precision expected from more demanding professional applications.

Within the sporting market, Schmidt & Bender is closely associated with established riflescope families such as Zenith and PM II. The company introduced the first Zenith model, the 2.5-10x56, in 2001, and added FlashDot illumination to Zenith riflescopes in 2002. In 1992, it also established a Hungarian subsidiary based on an optical department acquired from MOM. Today, Schmidt & Bender’s reputation in riflescopes rests on German manufacturing, careful assembly and a long-standing specialization in premium optical sighting systems.
