Minox RS-4 3-12x56

• 56 mm objective lens: The large front lens gathers more light at dawn and dusk, helping the image stay bright when game is most active and shot opportunities are often brief.
• 3-12x magnification range: This zoom span covers close woodland shots as well as more deliberate holds across open ground, so one hunting riflescope can handle varied terrain.
• Side parallax adjustment from 10 m to infinity: Fine focus at short and long distances reduces aiming error at higher magnification and keeps the target image sharp across changing shooting situations.
• Illuminated red dot with auto shut-off: The bright center aiming point stands out against dark backgrounds in poor light, while the automatic shut-off helps preserve battery life during long waits.
• Compact 30 mm tube design with capped turrets: The slim profile keeps the scope practical for field rifles, and capped adjustments protect the zero from accidental movement during transport and hunting use.

About the Minox RS-4 Series

The Minox RS-4 series sits in the brand’s hunting riflescope range as a versatile line built for practical field use across several classic hunting styles. MINOX positions it for driven hunts, stalking, high-seat hunting and longer-distance shooting, which explains the broad spread of configurations in the series, from low-power models to higher-magnification optics such as the 3-12x56. A defining feature of the line is its use of multi-coated ED lenses, paired with stated light transmission of at least 90%, giving the series a clear emphasis on image brightness and contrast in difficult light.

The RS-4 family also follows a restrained mechanical design philosophy. Low-profile turrets, protective caps and a slim housing keep the scopes streamlined on a hunting rifle, while the illuminated red dot adds fast target acquisition without turning the optic into a bulky tactical design. Every model in the series uses an automatic shut-off after 3 hours of non-use, and MINOX states that RS-4 scopes are tested with and without thermal attachments while remaining weatherproof and shock-resistant. In practice, that makes the series a strong fit for hunters who want a traditional riflescope format with modern low-light performance and dependable field handling.

About the Minox RS-4 3-12x56

The Minox RS-4 3-12x56 is the low-light specialist of the series, built around a 56 mm objective lens and a useful 3-12x magnification range. That combination makes it particularly well suited to high-seat hunting, edge-of-field shooting and mountain or open-country hunting where light can be poor and distances can vary. At lower magnification, the scope offers a broad enough view for finding game quickly, while the upper end gives the precision needed for more deliberate shot placement at longer range.

The optical layout is supported by a practical hunting reticle system. This model uses an illuminated red dot that remains visible against dark game or shaded backgrounds and is suitable for daylight use, so the aiming point stays easy to pick up without covering too much of the target. The automatic shut-off helps conserve the CR2032 battery during long sessions in the field. With second focal plane reticle placement, the apparent reticle size stays constant through the zoom range, which many hunters prefer for a familiar sight picture at all magnifications.

Mechanically, the scope stays focused on reliable field use rather than exposed adjustment features. Capped turrets protect the settings from accidental movement, and the 0.10 MIL click value gives straightforward, repeatable correction when zeroing. The side parallax adjustment from 10 m to infinity is especially useful on a 12x hunting scope, because it keeps the image sharp and helps reduce point-of-aim error when shooting at varied distances. A 30 mm tube, weatherproof construction and a robust 745 g build complete a riflescope designed for hunters who prioritize brightness, control and dependable handling in real field conditions.

About Minox

MINOX GmbH was founded in Wetzlar, Germany, in 1945, and the company’s history reaches back even further to Walter Zapp’s first MINOX miniature-camera prototype in 1936. Although the brand first became widely known for compact cameras, MINOX later expanded into sport optics and entered that market in the 1990s. Today, the company develops binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, night-vision devices and wildlife cameras, with a strong focus on practical field equipment for hunting and observation.

MINOX joined the Blaser Group in 2013, and the company relocated to Isny, Germany, on February 1, 2020. In riflescopes, MINOX has built its reputation around durable hunting optics with straightforward controls and strong low-light performance. The ZP riflescope series helped establish the brand in hunting and sport optics, while lines such as the RS-4 bring that experience into more accessible hunting-focused models.
