Minox RS-4 2.5-10x42

• Compact 2.5-10x42 format: The short 295 mm body keeps the rifle well balanced, which is especially useful for stalking setups and for rifles fitted with a thermal attachment.
• Wide-to-precise magnification range: The 2.5-10x zoom span gives a broad 16.00 m/100m field of view at low power for fast target acquisition, while still providing enough magnification for careful shot placement at longer distances.
• Side parallax from 10 m to infinity: Close and distant targets can be brought into sharp focus, helping maintain a clear sight picture and reducing aiming error across varied hunting distances.
• Daylight-bright illuminated reticle: The red illumination remains visible against dark backgrounds in daylight and low light, making the aiming point easier to pick up without covering too much of the target.
• Weatherproof, fogproof construction: A shockproof, waterproof and fogproof build supports reliable use in changing weather and rough field handling, from damp mornings to cold evening hunts.

About the Minox RS-4 Series

The Minox RS-4 series sits in the brand’s hunting riflescope range as a group of versatile, field-oriented optics built around a slim, compact design. The series covers several classic hunting roles, from driven hunts to stalking, high-seat use and longer-distance shooting, with models ranging from 1-4x24 to 6-24x50 LR. Across the line, Minox keeps the handling straightforward with low-profile capped turrets and proportions that suit traditional hunting rifles as well as rifles used with clip-on thermal equipment.

A defining characteristic of the series is its combination of multi-coated ED lenses and a stated light transmission of at least 90%, giving the RS-4 family the optical efficiency expected from practical hunting optics. Every model uses an illuminated red dot with automatic shut-off after 3 hours of non-use, and the series is described as weatherproof and shock-resistant. That makes the RS-4 line a sensible fit for hunters who want a conventional daytime riflescope that remains compact, dependable and easy to operate in varied terrain and changing light.

About the Minox RS-4 2.5-10x42

The Minox RS-4 2.5-10x42 is the stalking-focused model in the series, built for hunters who want a scope that stays compact on the rifle without giving up useful magnification. Its 2.5-10x zoom range covers the practical middle ground very well: low magnification keeps the image open and easy to manage when moving through woodland or tracking game at moderate distance, while the upper end gives enough detail for more deliberate shots across fields or clearings. With a 42 mm objective lens, the scope remains trim and easy to carry, yet still offers solid image brightness for daytime use and the last part of legal shooting light.

One of this model’s main strengths is how well it suits rifles used with front-mounted thermal attachments. At 295 mm and 635 g, it helps keep the overall setup from becoming awkward or top-heavy. The 30 mm tube provides a robust mounting platform, while the side-focus parallax adjustment from 10 m to infinity helps maintain a sharp image over a wide range of distances. In practical use, that matters when switching from close observation to longer shots without losing image precision.

The illuminated reticle uses a daytime-usable red dot and includes auto turn-off, which supports fast aiming in dark cover and low-contrast conditions while conserving battery power from the CR2032 cell. The capped turrets and 0.10 MIL click value suit a hunting optic that is meant to stay protected in the field rather than serve as a dial-heavy target scope. Combined with its waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction, this makes the RS-4 2.5-10x42 a practical riflescope for stalking and general hunting use in changeable conditions.

About Minox

MINOX GmbH was founded in 1945 in Wetzlar, Germany, and the company later became independent in 2005 after separating from Leica Camera AG. MINOX entered the sport-optics market in the 1990s and developed a broad range that includes binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, night-vision devices and wildlife cameras. This background is relevant to the RS-4 series because it shows a long-term focus on practical field optics rather than a single-product approach.

The company joined the Blaser Group in 2013 and relocated to Isny, Germany, on February 1, 2020. MINOX is also linked to the work of Walter Zapp, who designed the first MINOX miniature-camera prototype in 1936. In hunting and sport optics, the brand became especially well known through its riflescope development, with the ZP series helping establish its reputation among demanding users.
