Meprolight Mepro R4E Night Sight for 1911 Novak Narrow

• Self-illuminated tritium system: The Meprolight Mepro R4E Night Sight for 1911 Novak Narrow stays visible in low light and darkness without batteries, so the sight picture is available at any hour with no switches or charging routine.
• Five-element R4E alignment layout: The distinctive arrangement of three rear reference points and two front references helps the eye center the sights quickly, which is especially useful for defensive shooting and fast presentation from the holster.
• Steel construction: A steel sight body gives this handgun sight set the durability needed for daily carry, repeated holstering, and hard use on a working pistol.
• Fixed sight design: The fixed configuration keeps the setup simple and robust, making it well suited to duty, concealed-carry, and defensive pistols where reliability matters more than adjustment complexity.
• 1911 Novak Narrow fit: Built for pistols cut for the 1911 Novak Narrow pattern, this version provides a model-specific upgrade path for shooters who want night sights without changing the handling of the pistol.

About the Meprolight R4E Series

The Meprolight R4E series is an optimized-duty branch of the company’s TRU-DOT pistol-sight range, developed for handguns used in defensive, duty, and concealed-carry roles. Introduced in 2015, the series was built around a faster, more intuitive sight picture than a conventional three-dot arrangement. Its defining feature is the five-element alignment system, combining three vertical references with two horizontal cues to help the shooter index the pistol quickly under stress.

Across the range, tritium inserts in both front and rear sights provide constant illumination without batteries, making the sights usable in daylight, dim interiors, and full darkness. The series uses a steel construction to suit pistols that are carried daily and exposed to repeated holster wear. Depending on configuration, R4E sights are offered with green or orange tritium illumination, allowing different emphasis in the sight picture. In practical terms, the R4E family is aimed at shooters who want a fixed night-sight set that remains simple, rugged, and immediately readable when speed matters.

About the Meprolight Mepro R4E Night Sight for 1911 Novak Narrow

The Meprolight Mepro R4E Night Sight for 1911 Novak Narrow is a dedicated handgun night-sight set made for pistols that use the 1911 Novak Narrow dovetail pattern. Its purpose is straightforward: give a classic 1911 platform a sight picture that is faster to read in poor light while keeping the robustness expected from a fixed steel setup. For carry pistols, defensive sidearms, and range guns set up for practical shooting, that combination matters because it improves visibility without adding controls, batteries, or extra bulk.

The key advantage of this model is the R4E five-alignment-element layout. Rather than relying only on a standard three-dot picture, it uses a more structured visual arrangement that helps the eye settle the front and rear sights with less hesitation. Combined with self-illuminated tritium, the sight picture remains available in darkness and transitional light, where black iron sights can disappear against the target. The square rear sight supports a clean, familiar rear reference, while the fixed adjustment design keeps the unit durable and resistant to loss of zero from hard carry or impact.

Built from steel and finished in black, this sight set is intended for practical service rather than cosmetic effect. The result is a compact upgrade for a 1911 that preserves the pistol’s handling, adds around-the-clock visibility, and favors quick alignment under pressure.
