Meprolight HVS for Sig Sauer 9mm, rear sight

• Self-Illuminated Tritium: The rear sight stays visible in low light and darkness without batteries, giving a consistent reference point for defensive pistols that may be carried or staged for immediate use.
• U-Notch Rear with Green Reference: The U-shaped rear notch helps the eye center the front sight quickly, while the green rear tritium reference supports faster alignment when ambient light drops.
• Fixed Steel Construction: A fixed steel rear sight offers a durable setup for daily carry and duty use, resisting wear better than softer materials and avoiding the complexity of adjustable target sights.
• Three-Dot Sight Picture: The familiar 3-dot arrangement gives an intuitive sight picture that many shooters already know, reducing adaptation time when upgrading a SIG Sauer pistol.
• Rear-Sight-Only Configuration: This model is built as a dedicated rear replacement for compatible SIG Sauer 9 mm pistols, making it suitable for repairs, replacements, or completing an existing sight setup.

About the Meprolight HVS Series

The Meprolight HVS series, later renamed Hyper-Bright, was developed as a handgun-sight family focused on fast sight acquisition in both daylight and low-light conditions. The concept combines self-illuminated tritium with a practical pistol-sight layout, so the sights remain usable around the clock without depending on batteries or electronic controls. That makes the series especially relevant for defensive handguns, service pistols, and everyday-carry setups where simplicity matters.

A defining characteristic of the series is its three-dot sight picture paired with a U-shaped rear notch. This layout is intended to help the shooter pick up the front sight quickly while still maintaining a clear rear reference under stress. The sights use steel construction and a fixed design philosophy, favoring durability and repeatable alignment over extra adjustment mechanisms. Across the family, Meprolight offers versions for multiple handgun platforms, with front-sight contrast-ring options such as orange, green, and yellow on complete sets. In practical use, the HVS/Hyper-Bright line sits as a robust tritium night-sight solution for shooters who want a conventional iron-sight system that remains visible day and night.

About the Meprolight HVS for Sig Sauer 9mm, rear sight

The Meprolight HVS for Sig Sauer 9mm, rear sight is a dedicated rear tritium night sight for compatible SIG Sauer pistols chambered in 9 mm. As a rear-only component, it is intended for shooters who need to replace a damaged rear sight, restore an existing Meprolight setup, or complete a pistol configuration that already uses a matching front sight. Its role is straightforward: provide a durable rear reference that remains visible in changing light without adding batteries, switches, or maintenance demands beyond normal sight care.

The sight uses a fixed steel body, which suits carry and duty pistols where impact resistance and long-term stability matter more than target-style adjustability. Its U-shaped rear notch helps frame the front sight naturally, which can make alignment feel faster at defensive distances than a narrower square notch. The green tritium rear reference keeps the rear sight visible in darkness, while the 3-dot alignment pattern preserves a familiar sight picture for shooters accustomed to conventional combat sights. Because the sight is self-illuminated, it remains ready at all times and avoids the failure points associated with powered aiming systems. In practical terms, this rear sight is best suited to handgun users who want a robust iron-sight solution for low-light carry, home defense, or service use on a SIG Sauer platform.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. Its catalog covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, night-vision systems, and thermal devices.

The company’s strength in this category comes from its long focus on self-illuminated sighting systems and practical combat-oriented designs for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines. As a division of SK Group, Meprolight is widely associated with durable duty-grade products that emphasize simple operation, low-light capability, and mechanical reliability. That background is directly relevant to handgun night sights such as the HVS series, where rugged construction and always-on visibility are more important than electronic complexity.
