Leupold DD Handgun Rail for Ruger Blackhawk

• Steel one-piece construction: The solid steel base gives the optic a rigid mounting platform that resists movement under handgun recoil and helps maintain zero over time.
• Dual Dovetail compatibility: Built for Leupold Dual Dovetail (DD) rings, this rail uses the system’s twist-and-lock interface for a secure mechanical fit with fewer parts to work loose.
• Made for the Ruger Blackhawk: A model-specific fit simplifies installation and gives the mount the correct footprint for dependable alignment on this revolver platform.
• 0 MOA base cant: The flat mounting angle keeps the setup straightforward for typical handgun scope applications where a neutral base is the practical choice.
• Low-profile mounting approach: The DD system is designed to keep compatible optics close to the firearm, which can improve handling and preserve a more natural sight picture.

About the Leupold Handgun Bases Series

Leupold Handgun Bases are built around the company’s long-established approach to recoil-resistant steel mounting systems for hunting optics and shooting applications. In this family, Dual Dovetail models are intended for handgun and other large-caliber uses where repeated recoil places extra stress on the connection between firearm and optic. The system uses dovetail engagement at both the front and rear, while compatible DD rings lock into place with a twist-and-lock action that creates a strong mechanical interface.

Within Leupold’s mount lineup, this series suits shooters who want a traditional steel base rather than a lightweight universal rail. The design focuses on secure fit, repeatable alignment, and precise sight-in adjustment, which matters on hard-kicking revolvers and specialty pistols where even small shifts can affect point of impact. The series includes handgun-specific variants for platforms such as the Ruger Blackhawk, Freedom Arms 83, Remington XP-100, and T/C Contender, giving the range a practical role in scoped handgun setups for hunting and field shooting.

About the Leupold DD Handgun Rail for Ruger Blackhawk

The Leupold DD Handgun Rail for Ruger Blackhawk is a one-piece steel base made for shooters who want to mount a handgun optic on a revolver platform without giving up rigidity. Its model-specific fit for the Ruger Blackhawk matters in practice because a base that matches the firearm correctly helps the optic sit square, keeps installation straightforward, and supports consistent zero retention under recoil.

This mount is part of Leupold’s Dual Dovetail system, so it is designed to work with Leupold Dual Dovetail rings. That interface uses a twist-and-lock connection rather than a simple clamp arrangement, which helps create a firm hold between ring and base. On a handgun used for hunting or field shooting, that added mechanical security is valuable because recoil impulse is sharp and repeated movement at the mount can quickly show up on target.

The 0 MOA configuration keeps the base neutral, which suits common handgun scope setups where the goal is a clean, direct mounting solution rather than built-in elevation bias. Steel construction adds weight compared with lighter materials, but the tradeoff is durability and resistance to flex. For a scoped Blackhawk, this base is aimed at shooters who prioritize strength, stable alignment, and dependable long-term mounting performance over unnecessary complexity.

About Leupold

Leupold & Volpel was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1907 by Fred Leupold and Adam Volpel. The company remains family-owned and focuses on sport optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use. Its product range includes riflescopes, red dot sights, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and thermal optics, giving the brand a broad presence across both hunting optics and tactical optics categories.

Leupold introduced its first riflescope, the Plainsman, in 1947, and later introduced the Duplex reticle in 1962, a design that became widely recognized in sporting optics. The company moved its manufacturing plant and headquarters to Beaverton, Oregon, in 1968, where Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is still headquartered. Alongside its well-known VX-series hunting scopes and Mark-series tactical riflescopes, Leupold also produces the steel mounting systems that support those optics in demanding field use.
