Hawke Frontier ED X 10x25 Product description

  • 10× Magnification in a Pocket-Sized Double-Hinge Design: The double-hinge body allows the binocular to fold to a compact footprint that fits in a jacket pocket — identical in dimensions and weight to the 8×25 model at 310 g and 68–106 mm wide × 110 mm high. The 10× magnification provides greater image scale for more detailed subject identification at distance, making the 10×25 well suited to birding, wildlife observation, and travel use where higher magnification is preferred in the most compact possible package.
  • Extra-Low Dispersion Glass with Dielectric Coated BAK-4 Roof Prisms: The full H7 optical specification is retained in the compact format: Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass reduces chromatic aberration and colour fringing on high-contrast subjects, dielectric mirror coated BAK-4 roof prisms maximise light reflectivity and transmission through the prism stage, and phase correction maintains resolution and contrast across the full aperture at 10× magnification.
  • Wide Apparent Field of View at 10×: The field of view of 116 metres at 1,000 metres and apparent field of view of 66° are notably broad for a 10×25 compact binocular — wider in apparent terms than the 8×25 model — providing a comfortable, immersive sight picture during extended use despite the higher magnification. The generous field supports landscape scanning and bird tracking without the tunnel-like feel of some higher-power compact binoculars.
  • Close Focus at 2 Metres with Magnesium Alloy Construction: The minimum focus distance of 2 metres extends usability to very close-range subjects — matching the full-size 8×42 model. The magnesium alloy chassis is nitrogen purged, waterproof, and fogproof, providing full field-ready construction in the pocket-sized format. Water-repellent fully multi-coated lenses maintain performance in rain and wet conditions.
  • Twist-Up Eyecups with 16mm Eye Relief and Stay-On Lens Covers: The twist-up eyecups and 16mm of eye relief accommodate both bare-eyed and eyeglass-wearing users. Stay-on lens covers remain attached to the binocular body during use, preventing loss in the field. Note that like the 8×25 model, the 10×25 does not include a built-in tripod mounting thread.

About the Frontier ED X Binocular Series

The Frontier ED X series is Hawke's primary H7-tier binocular range, built on the H7 optical system with Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass, dielectric mirror coated BAK-4 roof prisms, and phase correction as standard across all models. The series is designed for hunters, birders, nature observers, and outdoor enthusiasts who want high optical performance in a range of sizes and magnification configurations.

All Frontier ED X models feature water-repellent fully multi-coated lenses, a magnesium alloy chassis with nitrogen purging and waterproof sealing, and twist-up eyecups. The series spans from the ultra-compact 8×25 and 10×25 double-hinge pocket models through compact 8×32 and 10×32 open-bridge configurations to full-size 8×42 and 10×42 models. The 25mm double-hinge models share identical dimensions and weight, differing only in magnification and the resulting field of view and exit pupil characteristics.

About the Model (Hawke Frontier ED X 10x25 — Green)

The Hawke Frontier ED X 10x25 is an ultra-compact binocular designed for birders, travellers, and nature observers who want the highest magnification available in the Frontier ED X compact format without any increase in size or weight over the 8×25. The double-hinge folding design collapses to a pocket-sized footprint — 68–106 mm wide × 110 mm high and 310 g — making it one of the lightest and most packable 10× binoculars available at this optical specification.

The 10× magnification with a 25mm objective lens delivers a field of view of 116 metres at 1,000 metres and an apparent field of view of 66° — notably broad for a 10×25, providing a comfortable sight picture for extended birding and wildlife observation despite the higher power. The ED glass lens elements reduce chromatic aberration and colour fringing at 10×, while the dielectric mirror coated BAK-4 roof prisms with phase correction maintain resolution and light transmission through the prism system. The exit pupil of 2.5mm is suited to bright outdoor shooting conditions.

The close focus distance of 2 metres matches the 8×25 and full-size 8×42 models. The magnesium alloy chassis is nitrogen purged, waterproof, and fogproof. The twist-up eyecups and 16mm of eye relief accommodate both bare-eyed and eyeglass-wearing users. Stay-on lens covers remain attached during use. No built-in tripod mounting thread is included.
