Hawke Endurance ED 10x42 Product description

  • 10× Magnification for Detailed Subject Identification at Distance: The 10× magnification provides greater image scale than the 8×42 model for more detailed identification of game, birds, and wildlife at extended distances — a meaningful advantage in open-country hunting and birdwatching where precise identification at range is often required before a decision is made. The field of view of 110 metres at 1,000 metres and apparent field of view of 63° remain broad enough for comfortable extended scanning despite the higher power.
  • Extra-Low Dispersion Glass with Phase Corrected BAK-4 Roof Prisms: The Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass reduces chromatic aberration and colour fringing at 10× magnification — where colour accuracy becomes more critical as the higher image scale amplifies any optical shortcomings. The phase corrected BAK-4 roof prisms and fully multi-coated lenses maintain resolution and contrast across the full aperture throughout the field.
  • 42mm Objective Lens with Adequate Low-Light Performance: The 42mm objective lens provides an exit pupil of 4.2mm at 10× — larger than the 3.2mm produced by the 10×32 model — supporting better image brightness in low-light conditions at dawn and dusk when hunting and wildlife observation are most productive. The 42mm objective is the practical minimum for a 10× binocular intended for use in variable field lighting conditions.
  • Compact and Manageable at 705g: At 705 g and 109–127 mm wide × 148 mm high — identical dimensions to the 8×42 model — the 10×42 is well proportioned for extended all-day carry. The shared dimensions between the 8×42 and 10×42 models mean the only practical differences between them are the image scale, field of view, and exit pupil — allowing users to compare the two configurations without any physical trade-offs.
  • Waterproof and Fogproof with Tripod Thread and Stay-On Covers: The body is nitrogen purged, waterproof, and fogproof, with a high-grip rubber exterior. The twist-up eyecups with position stops and 15mm of eye relief accommodate both bare-eyed and eyeglass-wearing users. A built-in ¼"-20 UNC tripod mounting thread supports use on a tripod — particularly useful at 10×, where image stability during extended observation benefits from a fixed mount. Stay-on objective lens covers remain attached during use.

About the Endurance ED Binocular Series

The Endurance ED series is Hawke's mid-tier binocular range, built on the H5 optical system and positioned between the entry-level Nature-Trek and Vantage series and the flagship Frontier ED X above it. The series is designed for hunters, birders, and nature observers who want Extra-Low Dispersion glass and phase-corrected prisms in a practical, field-ready package at an accessible price point.

All Endurance ED models feature ED glass, phase corrected BAK-4 roof prisms, fully multi-coated lenses, nitrogen purging, waterproof and fogproof sealing, twist-up eyecups with position stops, stay-on lens covers, and a built-in ¼"-20 UNC tripod mounting thread. The series spans 8×32, 10×32, 8×42, 10×42, 10×50, and 12×50 configurations. The key distinction from the Frontier ED X is the use of silver mirror prism coatings rather than the dielectric mirror coatings of the H7 system.

About the Model (Hawke Endurance ED 10x42 — Green)

The Hawke Endurance ED 10x42 is designed for hunters, birders, and nature observers who prefer the additional image scale of 10× magnification over the broader field of view and brighter image of the 8×42. The 10× magnification with a 42mm objective lens delivers a field of view of 110 metres at 1,000 metres and an apparent field of view of 63° — broad for a 10×42 — providing a comfortable sight picture for extended glassing. The exit pupil of 4.2mm provides adequate image brightness for typical outdoor hunting and wildlife observation conditions, including low-light morning and evening periods.

The ED glass lens elements reduce chromatic aberration and colour fringing at the higher magnification, while the phase corrected BAK-4 roof prisms and fully multi-coated lenses maintain resolution and contrast across the full field. The close focus distance of 2 metres accommodates close-range subject observation. The 15mm of eye relief and twist-up eyecups with position stops accommodate both bare-eyed and eyeglass-wearing users.

The body is nitrogen purged, waterproof, and fogproof with a high-grip rubber exterior. At 705 g and 109–127 mm wide × 148 mm high — identical to the 8×42 — the 10×42 is equally suited to extended field carry. A built-in ¼"-20 UNC tripod mounting thread enables tripod use. Stay-on objective lens covers remain attached during use.
