EAW pivot mount, 26 mm, Sauer 202 Medium Product description

  • Repeatable return to zero: The EAW pivot mount is built so the riflescope can be removed and reattached without shifting point of impact, which is valuable when switching between optics or transporting the rifle.
  • 26 mm ring interface: This version is made for classic 26 mm scope tubes, giving a secure steel mounting solution for traditional European hunting optics.
  • Adjustable front and rear fit: The pivot-mount design uses adjustable mount-foot fits, helping the mount seat precisely on the rifle and supporting consistent alignment.
  • Steel construction: A steel body gives the mount the rigidity and wear resistance needed for long-term use on a hunting rifle that sees repeated removal and reinstallation of the scope.
  • Rifle-specific Sauer 202 fit: Designed for the Sauer 202 Medium action, this mount matches the rifle platform correctly, which simplifies installation and preserves the handling of the firearm.

About the EAW Pivot Mounts Series

EAW Pivot Mounts are one of the company’s long-established mounting systems and remain a familiar choice for hunters who want a removable scope setup with dependable repeatability. EAW states that it developed and launched this pivot-mount design more than 50 years ago, and the system is still part of its current mount range for common rifles and long guns. The concept is straightforward but highly practical: the scope can be taken off the rifle and fitted again while maintaining consistent point of impact.

A defining feature of the series is the adjustable front and rear mount-foot fit, which allows the mount to be set up precisely to the rifle and optic combination. That makes the system especially useful for shooters who alternate between a day scope and another aiming device, or who want to remove the optic for transport and storage. Within the broader EAW lineup, the pivot series sits as a traditional, mechanically focused solution that emphasizes repeatable positioning, solid lock-up and compatibility across many established rifle platforms.

About the EAW pivot mount, 26 mm, Sauer 202 Medium

The EAW pivot mount, 26 mm, Sauer 202 Medium is a rifle-specific mounting solution for shooters using a Sauer 202 Medium and a scope with a 26 mm main tube. That combination makes it particularly relevant for classic European hunting optics, where 26 mm tubes remain common and a low, secure steel mount is often preferred over more universal rail systems.

Its main advantage is not simply that it holds the scope, but that it does so in a way that supports the practical strengths of the EAW pivot system. The optic can be removed when open sights are preferred, when the rifle needs to be packed more compactly, or when a second sighting setup is used, then reattached with the repeatability expected from a properly fitted pivot mount. For a hunting rifle, that means less disruption to the established zero and less need for repeated rechecking after reinstalling the scope.

Steel construction contributes to the mount’s stable feel and long service life, especially on a rifle that may see regular field use over many seasons. Because this version is made specifically around the Sauer 202 Medium interface, it suits the rifle without adding unnecessary complexity. The result is a traditional pivot mount for hunting optics that prioritizes secure engagement, clean rifle-specific fit and the convenience of a removable scope system.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. The business later moved production from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. The company’s name goes back to 1923, when Ernst Apel acquired Elektro-Dental-Werke Frankfurt and changed the EDW brand to EAW, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg.

For shooting equipment, EAW is best known for its specialized mounting systems. It developed and produced its first riflescope mounts in 1945, and since 1951 mount development and production have been the company’s primary focus. Its range includes pivot mounts, slide-on or roll-off mounts, and claw mounts, alongside newer tactical mounting products and thermal imaging devices. That long concentration on scope mounting is why EAW remains closely associated with precise, rifle-specific mounting solutions made in Germany.

Need help? Not sure about something? Don't hesitate - ask our community! Our experienced community is here to help you with this question.

1. I have the same rings and mounts, of which the mounts are already mounted on my sauer 200 and used for hunting. I plan to buy rings for another scope to be used for shooting. Are the only rings available without mounts? If available, how much is it? 2. What does the extension (KR) mean? What is the difference of 0mm and 17mm?

by Haruhisa
