Dentler Base rail BASIS VARIO - Sauer 101

• Continuously adjustable alignment: The BASIS VARIO system lets the rifle be aligned to the optic through the base itself, so the optic can keep its own settings when moved between compatible rifles.
• Modular Dentler interface: This base rail works with the Dentler Mounts Interface, making it easier to build one repeatable mounting setup around different optics and firearm platforms.
• Steel construction: The steel body gives the rail the rigidity needed for a stable optic platform, which helps preserve consistent zero under field use and recoil.
• Low 4.00 mm build height: The low-profile design helps keep the optic close to the bore, supporting a more natural head position and a cleaner overall rifle setup.
• Firearm-specific fit: Designed for the Sauer 101 platform and other listed long-action rifles, the rail matches the receiver geometry for a secure, purpose-built mounting foundation.

About the BASIS VARIO Series

The Dentler BASIS VARIO series is the adjustable branch of Dentler’s modular mounting system for hunting rifles. Within the company’s lineup, it sits above a fixed base concept by adding continuous windage and height adjustment at the base rail itself. In practice, that matters for shooters who want to use one optic on more than one rifle without constantly re-zeroing through the scope turrets.

The series is built around a firearm-specific base rail that remains on the rifle and a separate Dentler mounting rail that stays with the optic. Dentler’s design philosophy focuses on repeatable optic changes, a secure mechanical lock-up and compatibility across a broad range of hunting optics and mounting formats. BASIS VARIO rails are made for hunters who want a flexible system for day optics, red dots or other sighting solutions while keeping the setup tidy and mechanically consistent. The result is a mounting family aimed at practical field use, especially where one optic may need to serve several rifles with minimal disruption to established settings.

About the Dentler Base rail BASIS VARIO - Sauer 101

The Dentler Base rail BASIS VARIO - Sauer 101 is a rifle-specific mounting base for shooters who want the flexibility of the Dentler modular system on a Sauer 101. Its main advantage is not simply that it holds an optic, but that it forms the adjustable foundation of a system designed to keep the optic’s own settings intact while the rifle is matched to it. For hunters running several compatible rifles, that can simplify setup changes and reduce the need to rework turret settings every time an optic is moved.

The rail is made from steel, which gives the mounting surface the stiffness needed for dependable support under recoil and regular field handling. Its 4.00 mm build height keeps the base low, helping maintain a compact sight line and a more natural cheek weld once the optic and upper mounting rail are installed. The matte black finish also suits a practical hunting rifle build by keeping reflections subdued.

Because this is part of the BASIS VARIO platform, it is best suited to shooters who value modularity and repeatability over a one-piece fixed solution. It also fits into a wider compatibility pattern that includes other listed long-action rifles, which is useful for building a consistent cross-rifle mounting standard around the Dentler interface.

About Dentler

Dentler Jagdwaffen was founded in 2011 by Daniel Dentler. The company is based in Leutkirch im Allgäu, Germany and focuses on modular riflescope mounting systems for hunting firearms. Its core expertise is the development of adaptable mounting solutions that let shooters combine firearm-specific base rails with interchangeable optic mounting rails.

Two of the company’s central systems are BASIS and BASIS VARIO. The standard BASIS concept uses a dedicated base rail on the rifle and a separate optic rail, while BASIS VARIO adds continuous adjustment for height and windage. Dentler also offers mounting rails for a wide range of optic footprints and interfaces, including solutions for brands such as Aimpoint, Pulsar, Swarovski and Zeiss, as well as Weaver/Picatinny formats. That specialization has made Dentler particularly relevant in the hunting optics segment, where repeatable mounting and cross-platform flexibility are a priority.
