Contessa Picatinny Rail for Anschütz 54 Product description

About Picatinny Rail

The Picatinny rail system features slots spaced at precise 5.23 mm intervals, enabling consistent and versatile use along its entire length. This system is designed for ease of mounting and is universally compatible; accessories designed for a Picatinny rail will fit seamlessly, irrespective of the manufacturer or the date of production. Known for its affordability, durability, and reliability, the Picatinny rail is a popular choice among professionals and military personnel, making it a dominant player in the scope mounts market in recent years.
The Picatinny design marks a significant advancement over the older Weaver standard. Unlike the Weaver system, which offers only a few predetermined slots, the Picatinny rail boasts continuous slots across its surface. This feature provides the flexibility to mount devices at any preferred location. Additionally, the slots on a Weaver rail are narrower, at 3.8 mm, allowing mounts designed for Weaver rails to fit on a Picatinny rail. However, mounts specifically made for Picatinny rails do not fit on Weaver rails due to the size difference of recoil stoppers. This compatibility and versatility make the Picatinny rail a superior mounting solution in various applications.

Design of the Rail

The Contessa Picatinny Rail for Anschütz 54 is constructed from steel, known for its superior hardness and durability compared to aluminum, ensures a higher degree of repeatability with less wear over time. The picatinny rail features 14 slots. A distinct central canal on the rail allows for the concurrent use of the rifle's iron sights, offering a reliable backup sighting solution without the need to remove the picatinny rail when there is nothing mounted on it. This picatinny rail is attached to the rifle with 11mm Rounded Top Dovetail.

This rail can also be mounted on:

Usually, a Picatinny rail can be mounted on multiple different rifles if they share the same mounting surface, which we commonly refer to as the mounting standard. The Contessa Picatinny Rail for Anschütz 64 can be mounted on all rifles with 11 mm dovetail, either rounded or flat.

Mounting Instructions

Remove all the stains (grease, oil etc.) from the rifle's receiver with a cleaning fluid (acetone). Once the surface is clean and dry, check whether the screws match the rail and the holes on the receiver. Before mounting the rail permanently, apply a minimal amount of thread-locking fluid 278 or 648 on screws. Be careful not to get the fluid in or near the mounting holes. Carefully clean the remaining excess fluid around the rail with a cleaning fluid. Using a torque driver, screw the screws appropriately (up to 3 Nm/26.5 in-lbs).
If you require any mounting tools, you can find them on our Rifle Scope Mounting Tools page.

Good evening, I have a ‘mature’ Anschutz model 1700 in .22Hornet caliber that I have owned as new since around 1990. It has a rounded top to the receiver with an approximate 10.5mm rail built into it’s upper surface . This has caused me no end of problems finding an appropriate method of attaching night vision equipment to it as most scope rings and bases generally appear to be designed to attach using a Picatinny variety mechanism , which have FLAT attachment areas that WON’T fit onto the curved surfaces if this rifle’s upper action surfaces!! I need to find a base bar that will sit securely on the raised & rounded top base rail built into the receiver top of this rifle, that then terminates in a regular Picatinny upper surface to allow ease of attachment of my NV ‘Scope and any associated bases etc. for other equipment. Any ideas for a medium/long base (12 Picatinny blocks or so) that conforms to my wishes please, that is around 6->8” in length, topped with a Picatinny rail as above??. One thing is I wish the Picatinny rail to be raised as little as possible off the top surface of the rifle action…. Hopefully also, any working model should be easily/immediately available please? Thanks and Kind Regards, Steve Makin. A model number please

Hi, Can you please tell me if the Contessa Rail Match 54 will fit the Anshutz 1712 SS Momte Carlo? Plus does the Picatinny Rail change the size of the intended Scope Rings from 11mm to 20mm? And do you have them in Stock in Oz Thanks Steve

by steve

Dear Steve,

thank you for contacting us.

The desired Picatinny rail from Contessa will fit your 1712 SS model without a problem. When mounting on a Picatinny rail you will indeed need 21 mm rings (Picatinny rings). We have a variety of Picatinny rings in stock at our warehouse. Feel free to check our website for that or simply contact us directly at [email protected]

by Hugh

Dear Sir,

thank you for contacting us.

Based on the information you've provided, it sounds like this rail should be compatible with your rifle if the distances between the holes on your rifle's receiver match those on the rail. The A-B-C measurements for the rail are the following A-12,7mm B-76,2mm C-12,7mm. Additionally, you can find more information on how to measure the distances between the holes in your rifle's receiver here: https://www.optics-trade.eu/blog/a-b-c-distance/.
