Vomz Pilad P 8x48

• Fixed 8x magnification: a single-power design keeps the sight picture consistent and avoids the extra moving parts of a variable scope, which suits hunters and sport shooters who want a straightforward aiming setup at known distances.
• 48 mm objective lens: the larger front lens supports a bright image and a usable 6.00 mm exit pupil, helping the scope stay comfortable to use in dim woodland or at the edges of legal shooting light.
• SFP reticle with capped turrets: the 2. focal plane - SFP layout keeps the reticle visually fine at all times, while capped adjustment turrets protect the zero from accidental movement during transport and field carry.
• Multicoated optics: the lens coatings support the stated 80 % light transmittance and help maintain contrast, which makes target outlines easier to separate from dark backgrounds.
• Shockproof and waterproof construction: the robust housing is built for field use in difficult weather and across a wide -40 °C / +50 °C operating range, making the scope suitable for demanding hunting conditions.

About the Vomz Pilad P Series

The Vomz Pilad P series is a family of fixed-magnification optical riflescopes built for shooters who prefer a simple, durable sighting system over the added complexity of zoom optics. Within the manufacturer’s catalog, the series spans several fixed powers, including 3.5×, 4×, 8×, 10× and 12×, which places it as a practical line for hunting and sport shooting across short, medium and longer distances. The range includes both illuminated and non-illuminated reticle options, as well as different reticle patterns depending on the model.

A defining characteristic of the series is its straightforward mechanical layout. VOMZ describes its fixed-power scopes as having fewer moving parts than variable-magnification designs, an approach that favors reliability and repeatable handling in the field. Across the Pilad P family, the emphasis is on clear optical performance, uncomplicated controls and configurations suited to traditional hunting rifles. Some models in the series are intended for moving targets in driven or walk-up hunting, while higher-magnification versions are better aligned with more deliberate shot placement. This makes the series broad enough to cover several hunting optics roles while keeping the same basic design philosophy.

About the Vomz Pilad P 8x48

The Vomz Pilad P 8x48 is a fixed 8x riflescope intended for shooters who want more target detail than a low-power hunting optic can provide, but without the extra controls and internal complexity of a variable scope. That makes it a sensible fit for deliberate shooting from a supported position, for hunting where distances are more predictable, and for users who value a consistent sight picture every time the rifle is shouldered. Because magnification never changes, holdover references and apparent target size remain familiar from shot to shot.

The optical layout combines 8.00 x magnification with a 48.00 mm front lens, giving the scope a bright, steady image and a stated 6.00 mm exit pupil. In practical use, that helps the image remain comfortable to acquire in lower light and reduces the feeling of a cramped eyebox compared with smaller high-power fixed scopes. The multicoated lenses and stated 80 % light transmittance support contrast and image brightness, while the 5.58 m/100m field of view remains appropriate for measured target acquisition rather than fast close-range work.

This model uses a 2. focal plane - SFP reticle configuration without illumination, which keeps the reticle appearance constant and uncluttered. The capped turrets with 20mm/100m- 0.20MIL clicks are better suited to zeroing and occasional correction than to frequent exposed dialing, helping protect settings during transport and field use. A 25.4 mm tube, 440.00 g weight and 307.00 mm overall length keep the scope in the traditional hunting format, while the shockproof and waterproof construction supports dependable use in harsh weather.

About Vomz

VOMZ began operations in Vologda, Russia, on October 16, 1971 and remains headquartered there. The company manufactures optoelectronic products for both special-purpose and civilian use, with a catalog that includes optical sights, prism sights and collimator sights. In the sporting segment, VOMZ is known for producing Pilad-branded rifle scopes intended for hunting and sport shooting, giving the brand a clear focus within traditional shooting optics.

The company is part of the Shvabe holding within the Rostec State Corporation, linking it to a broader industrial and optical manufacturing base. For riflescope users, that background matters because it reflects long-standing experience in practical sighting systems rather than a purely lifestyle-oriented product line. VOMZ also states that its scopes are tested against 800 g recoil loads, which underlines the brand’s emphasis on mechanical durability in field use.
