Shilba Classic 3-9x40 Product description

  • 3-9x variable magnification: The zoom range covers close woodland shots as well as more deliberate aiming at longer distances, making the scope practical for stalking, rimfire use, and general hunting rifles.
  • 40 mm objective lens: This objective size balances light gathering with a trim overall profile, helping maintain a bright sight picture without adding unnecessary bulk to the rifle.
  • Second focal plane design: The reticle keeps the same apparent size through the magnification range, so the aiming point stays easy to see at both low and high power.
  • Capped multi-turn turrets: Protected adjustment caps help prevent accidental changes in the field, which suits hunters who want a set-and-forget zero for dependable everyday use.
  • Nitrogen-filled weather-resistant construction: Waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof sealing helps the scope stay usable through temperature changes, damp weather, and regular recoil.

About the Shilba Classic Series

The Shilba Classic series sits in the brand's hunting-scope range as a straightforward line built around practical field use. Shilba's own history links its earliest basic riflescopes to 4x32 and 4x40 hunting models introduced in 1975, and the current Classic family continues that simple, functional approach with fixed-power and variable-power configurations for everyday shooting. Within the line, Shilba lists models such as 4x32, 4x40, 6x40, and 3-9x40, covering short- to medium-range applications.

Across the series, the emphasis is on Hi-Resolution lenses, aluminum construction, and weather-resistant design suited to routine hunting use. The Classic range also includes versions with the R4 reticle and selected IRG variants with illuminated reticles, giving shooters a choice between a simple non-illuminated setup and improved visibility in darker conditions. Rather than focusing on tactical-style exposed controls, the series is built around familiar handling, compact proportions, and dependable optical performance for hunters who want a conventional riflescope that remains easy to mount, easy to use, and well matched to stalking and general field shooting.

About the Shilba Classic 3-9x40

The Shilba Classic 3-9x40 is a versatile hunting riflescope built around one of the most useful magnification ranges for general field shooting. At 3x, it stays manageable for closer shots and moving game in tighter terrain; at 9x, it gives the extra image scale needed for more precise shot placement at longer distances. Combined with a 40.00 mm objective lens, this setup offers a practical balance between brightness, manageable mounting height, and compact handling on a stalking rifle or rimfire rifle.

This model uses a second focal plane reticle, which keeps the reticle visually consistent as magnification changes. In practice, that means the aiming pattern remains easy to pick up quickly at low power and does not become overly fine at the top end. The fixed parallax arrangement also supports simple operation in the field, with no extra side or objective adjustment to manage before taking a shot.

The scope is designed with capped turrets and manual elevation and windage adjustment, a layout that suits hunters who zero once and want the settings protected during transport and use. Its 25.4 mm tube, 313.00 mm length, and 340.00 g weight keep the scope relatively light and easy to pair with compact sporting rifles. Nitrogen filling, along with waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction, helps maintain a clear view and reliable function in changing weather and normal recoil conditions.

About Shilba

Shilba traces its origins to an optical workshop near Osaka, Japan, in 1960. The company developed its early reputation in sporting optics, and in 1975 technicians from Argentina traveled to Japan to help develop a riflescope intended for hare hunting. Shilba's first two riflescope models were 4×32 and 4×40, and the initial 2,000-unit production run sold out in under 60 days, showing early demand for the brand's hunting optics.

In 1981, the owner of the Japanese factory sold the Shilba brand, its expertise, and its contacts to the current owners. Shilba later expanded its reach by exporting to neighboring Latin American countries in 2000 and began marketing its products in Spain in 2004. Today, the brand's range includes riflescopes, binoculars, monoculars, spotting scopes, and mounts and rings, with a clear focus on practical field optics.
