Shield Wing Mount, Picatinny/Weaver Adapter

• Picatinny/Weaver Compatibility: Fits common Picatinny and Weaver rails, making it a practical way to mount a Shield RMS or SMS footprint sight on a wide range of rifles and shotguns without a model-specific base.
• Wing-Protected Design: The side wings help shield the optic from knocks and side impacts, which is especially useful on field rifles or hard-use range setups where the sight can be exposed.
• Shield RMS/SMS Interface: Built around the Shield RMS/SMS mounting standard, it gives a direct and secure platform for compatible mini red dot sights while keeping the installation straightforward.
• Polymer Construction: The polymer body keeps weight down and resists corrosion, making it a sensible choice for shooters who want a simple mounting solution without adding unnecessary bulk.
• Black Low-Profile Finish: The black finish keeps the mount visually unobtrusive and well matched to modern firearms and compact reflex sights.

About the Shield Wing Mount, Picatinny/Weaver Adapter Series

The Shield Wing Mount belongs to the company’s family of mounting solutions built around the RMS/SMS footprint. Within Shield’s lineup, these mounts are intended to extend the use of the brand’s compact red dot sights beyond pistols and dedicated slide cuts, giving shooters a practical way to fit mini reflex optics to long guns and rail-equipped platforms. The defining idea behind the Wing Mount is simple: combine a standard rail interface with added side protection for the optic.

That makes this style of mount especially relevant for users who run compact sights on rifles or shotguns for fast target acquisition, training, hunting optics applications, or general-purpose sporting use. The side-wing layout adds reassurance when the firearm is carried in vehicles, rested against barriers, or used in rough outdoor conditions. As part of the broader Shield mounting ecosystem, the series is designed around compactness, low added weight, and compatibility with the manufacturer’s established mini red dot pattern. The result is a straightforward adapter concept that focuses less on complexity and more on giving a Shield RMS or SMS sight a stable, protected home on a Picatinny or Weaver rail.

About the Shield Wing Mount, Picatinny/Weaver Adapter

The Shield Wing Mount, Picatinny/Weaver Adapter is a fixed red dot sight mount made for shooters who want to place a Shield RMS/SMS-pattern optic on a firearm with a standard rail. Its main advantage is flexibility: instead of being tied to one slide cut or one firearm model, it works with Picatinny and Weaver rails, which opens the door to use on a broad range of rifles and shotguns, including many sporting and tactical platforms.

What sets this version apart from a basic rail adapter is the wing-protected layout. Those side structures are there to help guard the optic from lateral knocks that can happen during transport, positional shooting, or movement through tight spaces. For a compact reflex sight, that extra protection is a meaningful practical benefit, because the sight body is one of the most exposed parts of the setup.

The mount uses the Shield RMS/SMS standard, so it is suited to the manufacturer’s compact red dot family. Its polymer construction keeps the assembly light and avoids adding more weight than necessary to the top of the firearm, which helps preserve the quick handling that makes miniature red dot sights attractive in the first place. Finished in black, it integrates cleanly with modern firearms while providing a simple, stable platform for fast sight acquisition.

About Shield Sights

Shield International was formed in Great Britain in 1983 and has long focused on designing and manufacturing firearm sights for military, law enforcement, and civilian use. The company is particularly well known for compact reflex optics, with its original mini red dot sight design dating to 1996. Over the years, Shield’s mini sight concept also appeared under names such as Firepoint, Tasco Optima, Trijicon RedDot, and JPoint, reflecting the influence of its early design work across the category.

Shield’s product range includes mini red dot sights and rifle sights, and the brand also developed the Close Quarter Battlesight for the UK military before introducing the civilian-oriented Close Quarter Sportsight in 2011. A notable part of the company’s design approach is its patented Mini Sight mechanism intended to allow co-witnessing with standard iron sights. In 2013, Asset Shield Limited changed its name to Shield Firearms and Sights Limited.
