• Enclosed Emitter with SHIELD Footprint: The enclosed emitter design protects the LED from dirt, debris and moisture. It still mounts directly to the SHIELD footprint found on many factory optic-ready pistols, so no additional adapter plates are needed.
• Co-Witness with Standard Iron Sights: The patented low-profile mechanism allows co-witnessing with standard-height iron sights. The shooter keeps a reliable backup aiming option and can fall back on the iron sights if needed.
• Clickless Zeroing Mechanism: Windage and elevation are adjusted without clicks using the supplied minidial and hex wrench. This allows very fine, continuous corrections when zeroing the sight to the pistol.
• Flexible Battery Options: The side-access battery compartment accepts a CR2025, CR2032 or CR2050 battery with matching caps. The user can choose between a slimmer profile for concealed carry and longer battery life, with up to 20,000 hours of runtime on a CR2032.

ABOUT THE SHIELD AMS SERIES

The AMS (Advanced Mini Sight) series is Shield Sights' line of enclosed-emitter pistol red dot sights. The concept was pre-launched at SHOT Show 2022 as the company's first micro enclosed pistol sight that keeps the well-established SHIELD footprint. Owners of pistols cut for this footprint can move to an enclosed optic without new slide machining or adapter plates.

The series was developed from two existing Shield products with military service backgrounds: the SIS and the RMSw. Both were tested by the military and carry NSN numbers after meeting DEFSTAN requirements. This background shows in the AMS construction, which includes a nitrogen-sealed, IP68-rated aluminium housing, a glass lens without filters and a mechanism designed for co-witnessing with standard iron sights.

The AMS series is aimed at duty users, defensive shooters and sport shooters who want an enclosed sight on a compact, lightweight pistol optic. The standard AMS is available with a 4 MOA or 8 MOA red dot. The AMS-MR multi-reticle version lets the user switch between 2 MOA and 8 MOA dots, 65 MOA ring combinations and an 8 MOA horseshoe. The range also includes the AMSc, a compact version of the Advanced Mini Sight.

ABOUT THE MODEL (SHIELD AMS ADVANCED MINI SIGHT)

The Shield AMS Advanced Mini Sight is a compact enclosed red dot sight for pistols, available with a 4 MOA or 8 MOA dot. The 4 MOA version suits shooters who want more precise aiming at longer pistol distances. The larger 8 MOA dot is easier to pick up quickly during fast, close-range shooting and defensive use.

The red LED projects the dot onto a large glass lens without filters, so the view of the target is not tinted. An anti-reflective, colour-free coating reduces the visible signature of the sight. Because the emitter is fully enclosed, rain, mud and lint cannot block the dot. This is a practical advantage for everyday carry and duty use.

Brightness can be controlled in 3 automatic modes, where the sight adapts to changing light conditions and can stay switched on and ready. It can also be set manually across 12 brightness levels, including 3 night vision compatible settings. The intelligent on/off function saves the current setting, so the sight switches back on at the previously used brightness.

Zeroing uses a clickless adjustment mechanism operated with the supplied minidial and 1.5 hex wrench. Adjustment is continuous rather than in fixed click steps, so the dot can be positioned exactly on the point of impact. The side-mounted battery can be replaced without removing the sight from the slide, so the zero is kept.

The housing is machined from hard anodised 6082-T6 aerospace-grade aluminium and is nitrogen-sealed. It is rated IP68 and submersible to 30 ft (approx. 9 m) for 30 minutes. The sight operates from -40 °C to +70 °C. A dedicated mounting interface accepts aftermarket accessories such as a roll cage, lights, lasers and protective lens covers.

ABOUT SHIELD SIGHTS

Shield Sights is a British manufacturer of red dot sights, founded in Great Britain in the early 1980s. Its roots are in practical shooting (IPSC), advanced shooting training and the development of products for special forces. These include suppressed weapons and a suppressor and folding stock for the Accuracy International British Army sniper rifle.

Shield played a key role in the development of mini red dot sights. Its Shield Mini Sight (SMS) was supplied to other brands and used by military units. The company also developed the CQB (Close Quarter Battlesight) for the UK armed forces. Today its range covers pistol mini red dots such as the RMS, SMS and AMS ranges, as well as rifle sights. Shield holds ISO 9001 quality certification and manufactures in its own facility in Crewkerne, Somerset, England.
