Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 Wedge, front sight

• Self-Illuminated Tritium Front Sight: The front sight stays visible in low light without batteries or switches, giving the shooter a consistent aiming reference for defensive carry, duty use, and range practice.
• High-Visibility Front Focus: As a dedicated front sight, this model is built to draw the eye quickly to the front blade, helping speed up sight acquisition and making the sight picture easier to pick up under stress.
• Steel Construction: The all-steel body resists holster wear, recoil, and daily handling better than softer materials, which matters on a hard-use pistol that is carried often and shot regularly.
• Fixed-Sight Design: A fixed front sight keeps the setup simple and robust, with no adjustment controls to snag or shift, making it well suited to defensive handguns and straightforward service use.
• Kimber 1911 Wedge Fit: Built for the Kimber 1911 Wedge platform, this front sight is intended to match the slide cut correctly, which helps ensure proper installation and dependable alignment with the pistol.

About the Meprolight HVS Series

Meprolight HVS is the earlier name for the pistol-sight family that Meprolight later renamed Hyper-Bright in 2021. The series was developed as a steel self-illuminated sight line for handguns that need to work in both bright daylight and low-light conditions, without relying on batteries. That approach makes the series especially relevant for defensive pistols, service sidearms, and carry guns that may be stored for long periods yet still need an immediately visible sight picture.

Across the family, the design centers on tritium illumination, durable steel construction, and a sight picture intended for fast visual pickup. In full front-and-rear sets, the series commonly uses a three-dot arrangement with a U-shaped rear notch, balancing quick alignment with a clear view of the front sight. The line is offered for multiple handgun makes, so the concept stays consistent while the fit is tailored to specific slide cuts and platforms. In practical use, the HVS/Hyper-Bright family is aimed at shooters who want a simple, always-ready iron-sight solution with strong visibility and no electronic dependency.

About the Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 Wedge, front sight

This Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 Wedge is a dedicated front tritium night sight made for shooters who want a clear, always-on front reference on a 1911-pattern carry or defensive pistol. Because it is a front-sight-only component, its main role is to improve front-sight focus, which is the part of the sight picture that matters most when the shooter is trying to break accurate shots quickly. In practical terms, that means faster visual indexing from the holster, easier sight pickup in transitional light, and a more confident aiming reference indoors or after dark.

The sight uses a steel housing, which is important on a handgun platform that sees repeated recoil, holster contact, and routine handling. Steel helps the sight maintain its shape and fit over time, and it is better suited to a working pistol than a more fragile construction. The fixed configuration also supports reliability: there are no adjustment mechanisms to loosen, snag, or complicate the setup. For a pistol such as the Kimber 1911 Wedge, that simplicity is an advantage when the priority is dependable use rather than frequent sight changes.

Its self-illuminated tritium system is the key functional feature. Unlike painted or fiber-based solutions, tritium remains visible in darkness without external light exposure or battery power. That gives the shooter the same front reference every time the pistol is presented, whether the handgun is used for concealed carry, home defense, or low-light range training. As a category-specific fit for the Kimber 1911 Wedge, it is intended for proper compatibility with that slide pattern rather than as a universal front sight.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems and serves military, law-enforcement, and civilian markets. It operates as a division of SK Group, and its catalog spans conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, night-vision systems, and thermal devices.

That background is especially relevant in the handgun-sight category because Meprolight has long focused on sighting systems that emphasize readiness, durability, and simple operation under stress. The company produces solutions for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines, but it is particularly well known for self-illuminated sight designs that do not depend on batteries. For pistol users, that translates into iron sights built around practical visibility and robust construction rather than unnecessary complexity.
