Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 SUP, front sight

• Self-Illuminated Tritium Front Sight: The tritium lamp stays visible in low light without batteries, giving the shooter a clear front reference for defensive use, duty carry, or range work after dark.
• High-Visibility Front-Sight Design: As part of the Meprolight HVS family, this front sight is built to draw the eye quickly, helping the shooter pick up the front blade faster during rapid presentations.
• Steel Construction: The steel body stands up to holster wear, recoil, and daily carry better than softer materials, making it a practical choice for a hard-use handgun.
• Fixed-Sight Simplicity: A fixed front sight keeps the setup straightforward and durable, with no adjustment mechanism to loosen under regular use.
• Kimber 1911 Suppressor-Height Fit: Designed for Kimber 1911 SUP applications, this taller front sight supports pistols that need a raised sighting plane, such as setups paired with suppressors or other elevated sight requirements.

About the Meprolight HVS Series

Meprolight HVS is the earlier name for the handgun sight family that Meprolight later renamed Hyper-Bright in 2021. The series was developed as a set of high-visibility pistol sights for shooters who need a clear sight picture in both bright daylight and reduced light, without relying on batteries. In this family, Meprolight combines self-illuminated tritium with a sight layout intended to keep the front sight easy to find when the pace increases.

The series is built around practical defensive and service-pistol use. Steel construction supports regular carry and repeated recoil, while the fixed-sight format keeps the system simple and robust. Across the family, Meprolight uses a three-dot arrangement with a U-shaped rear notch on complete sets, along with front-sight contrast ring options such as orange, green, and yellow to help the eye center the front sight quickly. That makes the HVS/Hyper-Bright line well suited to concealed carry, duty pistols, and general handgun use where fast alignment matters as much as low-light visibility.

About the Meprolight HVS for Kimber 1911 SUP, front sight

This Meprolight HVS front sight is made specifically for the Kimber 1911 SUP platform and serves shooters who want a durable, always-ready front sight for a suppressor-height handgun setup. Because it is a front sight only, it is best suited to replacing a worn or damaged original front unit or to completing a compatible raised-sight arrangement on a 1911 configured for specialized use.

The key advantage of this model is its self-illuminated tritium system. In practical terms, that means the front aiming reference remains visible in dim interiors, at dusk, or in other low-light conditions where a plain black front blade can disappear. During the day, the HVS concept also helps the front sight stand out quickly, which supports faster sight acquisition on a defensive handgun. On a 1911, where many shooters prefer a crisp front-sight focus, that clear front reference is especially important.

The sight uses a steel housing and a fixed design, both of which favor reliability over complexity. Steel resists impact and holster abrasion, while a fixed front sight avoids moving parts that can shift under recoil. The black finish keeps glare low and maintains a subdued appearance on the pistol. For shooters building or maintaining a practical carry, duty, or range-oriented Kimber 1911 with elevated sights, this model provides a straightforward front-sight solution with low-light capability built in.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company is a division of SK Group and focuses on the development and manufacture of optical and electro-optical sighting systems. Its work spans conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, and thermal sights, giving the brand a broad presence across both simple iron-sight systems and more advanced aiming devices.

Meprolight builds products for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines, and serves military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. That background is especially relevant in the handgun-sight category, where durability, visibility, and dependable low-light performance matter more than unnecessary complexity. The company’s long involvement in self-illuminated sighting systems is one reason its tritium pistol sights remain a recognized option for defensive and service-style handguns.
