MDT Grand Old Canister Shooting Bag

• Canister-shaped support: The rounded profile creates a broad, stable contact surface that works well for seated, kneeling, and improvised field positions where a simple rear or intermediate support is needed.
• Adjustable fill system: A Velcro opening lets the bag’s firmness be tuned to the rifle and shooting style, helping the shooter balance support, recoil management, and fine elevation control.
• 500D Cordura construction: The durable outer fabric resists abrasion and moisture, so the bag stands up to repeated range use and rough ground without becoming a fragile piece of kit.
• Portable field details: A carabiner loop makes it easy to clip the bag to range gear, while the medium version’s hand strap improves control when moving quickly between positions.
• Multiple size and fill options: Medium and large formats, along with House Fill or Spex Lite choices, let the bag be matched to either a steadier bench-style setup or a lighter field loadout.

About the MDT Accessories Series

MDT Accessories sits alongside the company’s chassis and magazine lines as part of a broader precision-rifle support system. Rather than focusing on one single component, the series covers the smaller but important parts that shape how a rifle handles in practice, from fit and balance adjustments to support gear used on the firing line or in the field. Within the range are M-LOK components, weights, magazine accessories, buttstock accessories, bolt knobs, hoods, and miscellaneous items, reflecting MDT’s emphasis on practical rifle setup.

A defining trait of the series is its focus on adjustment and weight distribution. Some accessories are built to alter rifle fit, while others shift mass forward or rearward to change balance and stability. Compatibility varies by item, because certain parts are made for specific MDT chassis or buttstocks, while others are more universal in use. As a family, MDT Accessories is aimed at shooters who want to refine how their rifle system behaves, whether for target shooting, positional work, or hunting where support equipment and handling characteristics matter as much as the rifle itself.

About the MDT Grand Old Canister Shooting Bag

The MDT Grand Old Canister Shooting Bag is a soft shooting rest built to give a rifle a more stable interface with the ground, barricades, or improvised supports. Its canister shape is especially useful when the shooter needs a bag that can settle naturally into uneven surfaces while still presenting enough height and structure to support the rifle consistently. That makes it a practical choice for range sessions, positional practice, and field shooting where support conditions change from shot to shot.

MDT builds the bag from 500D Cordura fabric, a material chosen for repeated contact with rough benches, dirt, and gear. The outer construction is also described as moisture-resistant, which helps the bag remain dependable in damp conditions. A Velcro opening allows the fill to be adjusted, so the bag can be set up firmer for a more locked-in feel or softened slightly for better conformity around the rifle and support surface. MDT offers the model in House Fill or Spex Lite, giving shooters the option of a heavier, more planted bag or a lighter setup that is easier to carry.

The design also reflects field use. The medium version includes a hand strap for better control during quick position changes, while both sizes include a carabiner loop for attaching the bag to packs or range gear. With medium and large size options, the Grand Old Canister can be chosen to suit either a compact support role or a broader, more substantial rest for precision shooting.

About MDT

MDT Sporting Goods was established in 2009 and began in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. The company designs, manufactures, and sells rifle chassis systems, magazines, buttstocks, and accessories for target shooting and hunting, with its head office remaining in British Columbia. MDT identifies the TAC21 as its first chassis, a product that helped define the company’s direction in modular precision-rifle equipment.

Today, MDT’s range includes rifle chassis, stocks, magazines, bipods, scope bases, and scope rings, with product development shaped by input from competitive precision shooters. That background is relevant to support gear such as shooting bags, because MDT approaches accessories as part of a complete rifle system rather than as isolated add-ons. The company is best known for practical, competition-informed equipment that helps shooters tune rifle fit, balance, and support around real shooting positions.
