InfiRay Mate MAL38

• 1x clip-on format: The InfiRay Mate MAL38 mounts in front of a daytime riflescope, so it adds thermal imaging without changing the familiar handling, eye relief or reticle of the day optic.
• 384x288 / 12 μm thermal sensor: This sensor format balances detail, size and power consumption, giving a clear thermal image while keeping the unit compact enough for practical field use.
• ≤ 30 mK sensitivity: Low NETD helps the device separate small temperature differences, which makes animals and background detail easier to distinguish in damp weather, at dawn or after sunset.
• Magnesium housing: The lightweight metal body keeps weight to 500.00 g while adding the rigidity needed for clip-on use on hunting rifles and for regular transport in the field.
• Built-in recording and WiFi: Video, image capture and wireless connectivity make it easier to save observations, review shots and share footage without adding external accessories.

About the InfiRay Mate Series

The InfiRay Mate Series was introduced in 2022 as a family of thermal imaging attachments built for use in front of daytime rifle scopes. Within InfiRay Outdoor's thermal attachment range, the series is aimed at hunters who want the flexibility of a clip-on system rather than a dedicated thermal riflescope. That approach lets the rifle keep its familiar stock weld, trigger feel and daytime optic, while adding thermal capability when light conditions change.

A defining trait of the series is its magnesium-alloy housing, chosen to keep the units compact and manageable on the rifle without giving up durability. The line includes the MAL25, MAL38 and MAH50, with the MAH50R adding an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation. The original Mate models also support attachment and monocular viewing modes, which makes the platform more versatile than a single-purpose front attachment. Across the series, the emphasis is on practical hunting use: compact dimensions, thermal detection in darkness and poor visibility, and a format that works with established daytime optics rather than replacing them.

About the InfiRay Mate MAL38

The InfiRay Mate MAL38 is the mid-format model in the Mate family, combining a 38.00 mm objective lens with a 384x288 VOx uncooled sensor and 12.00 μm pixel pitch. In practice, this gives it a useful balance between field coverage and reach. Its 1948.00 m detection range supports scanning open ground and spotting heat sources at distance, while the 7.00 ° field of view remains controlled enough for deliberate observation through a day scope.

Because it is a 1.00 x clip-on, the MAL38 is designed to preserve the shooting characteristics of the host optic instead of replacing them. That matters for hunters who already know their daytime riflescope well and want thermal capability without relearning a new sight picture. The OLED display with 1024×768 resolution provides a crisp viewing image, and the 50.00 Hz refresh rate helps motion appear natural when tracking moving animals. A ≤ 30 mK sensitivity figure improves separation between animals, vegetation and background terrain when temperature contrast is weak.

The housing is made from magnesium, which helps keep total weight to 500.00 g and overall length to 138.00 mm, important for maintaining rifle balance on a front-mounted thermal attachment. Built-in photo capture, video recording, video output and WiFi add practical utility for documenting observations and reviewing use after the hunt. With up to 11.00 h battery life and waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction, the MAL38 is configured for extended field sessions in changing weather.

About IRay

IRay Technology Co., Ltd. develops and manufactures infrared detectors, thermal camera cores and modules, and thermal imaging cameras. Within the outdoor segment, the company operates through InfiRay Outdoor, which focuses on thermal and digital hunting optics such as riflescopes, monoculars, binoculars and clip-on systems. Its core technology areas include IC design, MEMS sensors and Matrix III image algorithms, which are directly relevant to the image formation and processing used in thermal devices.

In the sporting optics market, IRay's product families cover handheld thermal lines such as Eye II, Eye III, AFFO, ZOOM, Finder, UNIQUE, Gemini and Iris, along with riflescope lines including Holo, Rico, Tube, Geni and Hybrid. Its attachment ranges include Mate and Clip C, while night-vision riflescope lines include Clip NV and Tube NV. This broad specialization in thermal and night-vision optics gives the brand a strong focus on sensor-based hunting and observation equipment rather than conventional glass optics alone.
