Hawke Vantage 4-12x40 Product description

  • 30/30 Duplex Reticle for Clean, Fast Target Acquisition: The 30/30 Duplex reticle features thick outer posts tapering to a fine centre crosshair — a traditional hunting reticle design that provides a clean, uncluttered sight picture for fast target acquisition at any magnification within the scope's range. The fine centre section allows precise aim point placement at the upper end of the magnification range without obscuring the target.
  • 4–12× Magnification for Versatile Field Use: The 4–12× magnification range provides a 3× zoom ratio with a field of view of 8.7 metres at 100 metres at minimum power — sufficient for target identification at moderate distances — and a 12× upper end that delivers adequate image resolution for precise shot placement at extended hunting and field shooting distances.
  • Compact and Lightweight Build: At 341 mm in length and 415 g, the Vantage 4-12x40 is notably lightweight for a scope in this magnification class, keeping total system weight practical for all-day carry on a hunting rifle. The standard 1-inch tube ensures broad compatibility with widely available ring mounts at all price points.
  • H2 Optical System with 11-Layer Fully Multi-Coated Lenses: The H2 optical system with 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivers consistent light transmission and a clear image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 10 mm at 4× provides adequate image brightness in the field conditions typical of general-purpose hunting use.
  • Capped Low-Profile Turrets with Fixed Parallax: The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets offer 80 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ¼ MOA click increments, protecting the zero from accidental movement during carry. The fixed parallax at 91 metres removes the need for parallax management during field use.

About the Vantage Series

The Hawke Vantage series is the broadest riflescope lineup in Hawke's product range, built on the H2 optical system and covering a wide variety of tube diameters, magnification ranges, and reticle configurations at an accessible price point. The range is designed for hunters, target shooters, and recreational shooters who require a reliable, versatile optic without the cost associated with higher-tier optical systems.

All Vantage models feature 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivering consistent light transmission across the magnification range. The lineup spans standard 1-inch, 30mm, and 34mm mono-tube chassis, covering first and second focal plane optics, adjustable objective and fixed parallax variants, illuminated and non-illuminated reticles, and a broad selection of reticle designs from simple duplex patterns through mil dot and calibre-specific holdover variants. The Vantage 4-12x40 is the non-illuminated, fixed-parallax configuration within the 4-12× class — the simplest and lightest option for hunters who need higher magnification without added complexity or weight.

About the Model (Hawke Vantage 4-12x40 30/30 Duplex)

The Hawke Vantage 4-12x40 30/30 Duplex is a non-illuminated riflescope designed for hunters and field shooters who need higher magnification than a 3-9× scope provides, in a straightforward, lightweight package without illumination or adjustable parallax. The 4–12× magnification range with a 3× zoom ratio provides a field of view of 8.7 metres at 100 metres at minimum power — suitable for target identification at moderate distances — and a 12× upper end that delivers the image detail needed for precise shot placement at longer hunting and field distances than is typically practical with a 9× scope.

The 40mm objective lens, combined with the H2 optical system and 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses, delivers consistent light transmission and a clear image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 10 mm at 4× supports adequate image brightness in typical field conditions, and the 90mm of eye relief is compatible with a wide range of centrefire rifle platforms.

The 30/30 Duplex reticle provides a clean, uncluttered sight picture with thick outer posts guiding the eye to a fine centre crosshair — the most straightforward reticle design for hunting use where a clear aim point without additional reference markings is preferred. The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets offer 80 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ¼ MOA click increments. The parallax is fixed at 91 metres. The fast-focus eyebell allows rapid dioptre adjustment. The mono-tube is nitrogen purged and fully sealed, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance rated for all calibres. Overall length is 341 mm and weight is 415 g.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and precision shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Vantage series is built on the H2 system, representing the entry level of Hawke's riflescope range and providing an extensive selection of configurations at an accessible price point.
