GRS Thumbhole, Howa 1500 SA

• Thumbhole stock design: The deep thumbhole grip gives the firing hand a more natural, repeatable position, which helps steady the rifle during field shots and makes supported shooting at the range feel more controlled.
• Adjustable cheek piece: The built-in cheek piece adjustment makes it easier to align the eye consistently behind the optic, improving comfort and helping maintain the same sight picture from shot to shot.
• Laminate construction: The laminate build combines stiffness with good resistance to changing weather conditions, making the stock well suited to hunting use where temperature and moisture can vary through the day.
• Glass bedding interface: Glass bedding supports a stable fit between action and stock, which helps the rifle return to the same position after recoil and supports consistent practical accuracy.
• Field-oriented dimensions: With a 390.00 mm length of pull, 40.00 mm forend width and a weight of 1300.00 g, this stock balances carry comfort with enough substance for steady offhand and supported shooting.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

GRS Thumbhole is the company’s first thumbhole stock design and sits within the brand’s laminate-stock range as a practical option for shooters who want a more supportive grip shape than a conventional hunting stock. GRS positions the series for both field hunting and range use, so the design aims to combine carry-friendly handling with the more planted feel many shooters prefer when shooting from rests, bipods or improvised support.

The series is built from birch laminate with an oiled finish, giving it the rigid feel and weather-tolerant character that have made laminate stocks popular for hunting rifles used across changing seasons. GRS also equips the Thumbhole line with SpeedLock adjustment, reflecting the brand’s focus on fit and repeatable shooting position. The series is offered for multiple rifle platforms and in several color options, making it a versatile part of the GRS lineup for shooters who want ergonomic adjustment and the distinctive control of a thumbhole stock without moving to a heavier chassis-style system.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Howa 1500 SA

The GRS Thumbhole, Howa 1500 SA is built specifically for the Howa 1500 short action and is aimed at hunters who want a more stable, more deliberate stock shape than the factory pattern usually provides. Its thumbhole layout encourages a relaxed wrist angle and a secure firing-hand position, which is especially useful when taking careful shots from standing support, a blind rail, shooting sticks or a backpack in the field.

The stock uses laminate construction and glass bedding, a combination that supports rigidity and a consistent action fit. In practical terms, that means the rifle feels more settled under recoil and less prone to shifts caused by hard use or variable weather. The adjustable cheek piece is one of the most important advantages on a hunting rifle fitted with an optic, because it helps the shooter build the same head position every time rather than lifting or rolling the head to find the image.

With a 390.00 mm length of pull, 40.00 mm forend width and an overall weight of 1300.00 g, this stock is configured for practical field carry while still giving enough forend surface for supported shooting. It is intended for alpine hunting, driven hunt, stalking and woodland hunting, and its non-folding layout keeps the structure simple and solid. The stock is rated up to .375 HH, showing that it is designed to handle substantial recoil while maintaining the handling qualities expected from a dedicated hunting stock.

About GRS

GRS traces its history to 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, while the family business behind it began in 1983 as Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer. That background is relevant because GRS developed its rifle stocks from a foundation in woodcraft and shaping, then moved into dedicated shooting products with laminate rifle stocks from 2011 onward.

Today, GRS Riflestocks AS is headquartered in Hornindal, Norway and focuses on rifle stocks for hunting and shooting. Its range includes laminate and composite stocks as well as aluminum chassis models, with product families such as Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg and Ragnarok. Across these lines, GRS is particularly known for ergonomic stock geometry and fit-adjustment systems such as GRS SpeedLock, which are designed to help shooters achieve a more repeatable position behind the rifle.
