GRS Thumbhole, Browning X-Bolt LA

• Thumbhole hunting ergonomics: The GRS Thumbhole shape gives the firing hand a relaxed, repeatable grip that helps steady the rifle in field positions and supports more consistent trigger control.
• Adjustable cheek piece: Built-in cheek piece adjustment makes it easier to align the eye naturally behind the optic, improving comfort and helping maintain a repeatable head position from shot to shot.
• Birch laminate construction: The laminate stock combines stiffness and durability with the feel of a traditional stock, making it well suited to hard hunting use in changing weather and rough terrain.
• Glass-bedding ready design: With a glass-bedded action interface, the stock is set up for a stable rifle-to-stock fit that can help support reliable accuracy and consistent performance over time.
• Long-action Browning X-Bolt fit: This inlet is made for the Browning X-Bolt LA platform, giving hunters a purpose-built replacement stock that upgrades handling without changing the rifle’s core action layout.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

GRS Thumbhole is the company’s first thumbhole stock series and remains part of its laminate-stock range for hunters and range shooters who want a more supportive stock shape than a conventional sporter design. Built from birch laminate with an oiled finish, the series combines the familiar feel of wood with the dimensional stability and toughness that make laminate stocks popular for practical field use.

Across the range, GRS positions the Thumbhole for both hunting in the field and shooting at the range. A key part of the concept is GRS SpeedLock adjustment, which gives the stock an adaptable fit so the rifle can be set up around the shooter’s position and optic height more easily. The series is offered in several color options, including Brown, Green Mountain Camo, Nordic Wolf, Orange, and Black, and it is made in multiple inlets for different rifle brands. The overall design philosophy is straightforward: a stable laminate stock with a more vertical, controlled grip and practical adjustability for shooters who want better fit, steadier handling, and a stock that transitions well between hunting and practice use.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Browning X-Bolt LA

The GRS Thumbhole, Browning X-Bolt LA is a laminate hunting stock made specifically for the Browning X-Bolt long-action platform. Its defining advantage is the way it combines a classic stock material with a more controlled thumbhole grip, giving the rifle a steadier, more deliberate feel in supported positions, from prone and bench work to improvised rests in the field. For hunters using larger long-action chamberings, that extra control can make the rifle easier to manage through the shot and more comfortable to hold on target.

The stock uses GRS SpeedLock adjustment together with an adjustable cheek piece, allowing the comb height and overall fit to be tuned more closely to the optic setup and the shooter’s build. In practice, that means a more natural sight picture, less need to lift or roll the head to find the scope, and a more repeatable shooting position. The 390.00 mm length of pull and 40.00 mm forend width support a stable hold without making the stock overly bulky for hunting use.

Its laminate construction, glass bedding, and 1300.00 g weight reflect a design aimed at stability and field durability rather than minimum carry weight alone. With a 740.00 mm overall length and support for calibers up to .375 HH, this stock suits hunters who want a robust replacement stock for alpine hunting, driven hunt, stalking, woodland hunting, and general sporting use with a long-action Browning rifle.

About GRS

GRS began in 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, and focuses on rifle stocks for hunting and shooting. The company grew out of a family business that started in 1983 as Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer, which helps explain GRS’s strong background in shaping ergonomic wooden and laminate components. Today, GRS Riflestocks AS is headquartered in Hornindal and produces laminate and composite rifle stocks as well as aluminum chassis stocks.

Within the shooting market, GRS is known for stock designs that emphasize fit, control, and practical adjustability. Its product families include Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok, covering traditional hunting rifles through to more specialized shooting applications. One of the company’s notable technologies is GRS SpeedLock, an adjustment system used across its rifle stocks. GRS began making laminate rifle stocks in 2011, and that experience remains central to products such as the Thumbhole series.
