GRS Lightweight Classic, Howa 1500 SA

• Lightweight laminate construction: At 900.00 g, this stock keeps overall rifle weight down for mountain hunts and long days on foot, while laminate construction still provides the rigidity needed for consistent handling.
• Adjustable cheekpiece: The push-button cheekpiece adjustment helps align the eye naturally behind the optic, improving comfort and making it easier to maintain a repeatable shooting position in the field.
• Classic ambidextrous grip: The series uses an ambidextrous classic grip that suits a wide range of shooting positions and feels familiar to hunters who want a more traditional stock shape without giving up adjustability.
• Built for slim hunting barrels: Designed for standard slim barrel channels, the Lightweight Classic suits practical lightweight rifle builds where balance and easy carry matter more than bulk.
• Textured field handling: Added grip texture and a glass bedding setup support secure handling and stable action fit, which helps the rifle stay predictable in wet, cold, or uneven terrain.

About the GRS Lightweight Classic Series

GRS Lightweight Classic is a recent addition to the company’s laminate-stock range, introduced in the 2026 catalogue as a lighter hunting-focused alternative for shooters who want GRS ergonomics without the extra bulk of a heavier stock. The series is built around a birch-laminate construction with an oiled finish, combining the familiar warmth and stiffness of laminate with a shape intended for lightweight rifles and mountain hunting.

A defining trait of the series is its ambidextrous classic grip, which gives it a more traditional feel than many highly sculpted target-style stocks. At the same time, it keeps the practical adjustment features that have made GRS stocks popular, including a push-button cheekpiece and the option to extend length of pull with spacers up to 4 cm. The Lightweight Classic is intended for standard slim barrel channels, making it especially relevant for trim hunting rifles where balance, carry comfort, and a clean shouldering motion matter most.

About the GRS Lightweight Classic, Howa 1500 SA

The GRS Lightweight Classic, Howa 1500 SA is configured for shooters building a practical hunting rifle around the Howa 1500 short action. Its main advantage is the way it combines a 900.00 g laminate stock with adjustable fit features that are genuinely useful in the field. For alpine hunting and general hunting use, reducing stock weight helps keep the rifle lively in the hands and less tiring to carry over steep ground or during long stalks.

The stock’s 325.00 mm length of pull and adjustable cheekpiece support a more natural head position behind a riflescope, which matters when switching between clothing layers or shooting positions. A proper cheek weld makes sight alignment faster and more repeatable, especially on lightweight rifles that are often shot from improvised rests. The 45.00 mm forend width keeps the front end slim enough for easy carry while still offering enough surface for stable support on bags, packs, or natural rests.

This model also uses added grip texture to improve control with wet hands or gloves, and its glass bedding arrangement supports a stable action-to-stock interface for dependable consistency. Because it is not foldable, the design stays simple and field-oriented, with fewer moving parts and a more traditional profile. The result is a hunting stock that prioritizes low weight, solid fit, and straightforward handling over unnecessary complexity.

About GRS

GRS began in 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, growing out of a family business that started in 1983 as Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer. That background is relevant because GRS built its reputation around shaping rifle stocks with a strong focus on ergonomics, fit, and practical field use. The company specializes in rifle stocks for hunting and shooting and produces laminate, composite, and aluminum chassis stocks for a wide range of applications.

GRS began making laminate rifle stocks in 2011 and has since expanded into several well-known product families, including Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok. One of the brand’s notable stock technologies is GRS SpeedLock, developed to make stock adjustment faster and more intuitive. Today, GRS Riflestocks AS remains headquartered in Hornindal, Norway, with a product range centered on improving rifle fit and shooting comfort for hunters and sport shooters.
