EAW Sub-Base for Picatinny Product description

  • Steel sub-base construction: The steel body gives this EAW sub-base the rigidity needed for a stable interface between rifle and optic, which helps maintain alignment under recoil and repeated use.
  • Picatinny-to-Swarovski SR interface: This model adapts a Picatinny rail to a Swarovski SR Rail upper, making it useful when combining a rail-equipped rifle with a scope that uses Swarovski’s SR mounting standard.
  • 0 MOA inclination: The flat mounting geometry keeps the optic in a neutral position, which suits general hunting and sporting setups where no built-in cant is required.
  • Roll-off mount compatibility: As part of the EAW Roll-off Mounts family, the sub-base supports a system built around removing and reattaching the optic assembly, which is practical for transport, storage or switching optics.
  • Black protective finish: The black finish gives the mount a subdued appearance and adds a layer of surface protection for field use on working rifles.

About the EAW Roll-off Mounts Series

EAW Roll-off Mounts are designed as a practical, cost-conscious alternative within the company’s mounting range, sitting below the classic pivot mounts while still keeping the core EAW focus on secure scope attachment. The series is intended for lighter firearm setups and covers a broad mix of applications, from sporting rifles to platforms with Picatinny rails or dovetail interfaces.

A defining characteristic of the series is the ability to remove and reattach the optic, which is useful for transport, maintenance or changing between sighting systems. Depending on the model, the range includes one-piece and two-piece designs, as well as versions for fixed installation or repeatable attachment with lever-operated locking. Some variants also use side support or different upper configurations, allowing the mount to be matched to the optic and rifle combination rather than forcing a one-format solution. In practice, the series appeals to shooters who want EAW’s mechanical approach in a simpler mounting format for hunting optics and general rifle use.

About the EAW Sub-Base for Picatinny

The EAW Sub-Base for Picatinny is a specialised mounting component for shooters who need to pair a Picatinny-based rifle with an optic that uses the Swarovski SR Rail standard. Rather than acting as a generic rail section, this part serves as the lower element in a modular EAW mounting arrangement, creating the correct foundation for the upper interface. That makes it especially relevant for rifles and chassis systems that already use Picatinny geometry but need a more specific optic connection above.

Its steel construction is an important part of the design. For a mount base, stiffness matters because it helps the optic sit consistently and resist movement from recoil, handling and repeated removal of the upper assembly. The 0 MOA inclination keeps the setup level and straightforward, which suits conventional zeroing distances and avoids adding cant where it is not needed. With no windage adjustment built into the base, the design stays mechanically simple and is best matched to rifles and optics that already align correctly through the rail and mounting system.

Finished in black and built within the EAW Roll-off Mounts system, this sub-base is aimed at users who value a clean, low-profile mounting solution with a defined interface standard. It is particularly suitable for hunting rifles, tactical rifles and chassis platforms where a secure rail-mounted base is needed for an SR-rail optic setup.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. In 1923, he acquired Elektro-Dental-Werke Frankfurt and changed the EDW brand to EAW, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg. The company produced its first riflescope mounts in 1945, and since 1951 mount development and production have been its main focus.

Today, EAW is known for German-made mounting systems for hunting and sporting rifles, including pivot mounts, slide-on or roll-off mounts and claw mounts. The company later moved production from Würzburg to Gerbrunn, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. Alongside mounts, EAW also offers thermal imaging devices, but its reputation in this category is built above all on long-standing expertise in precise, repeatable riflescope mounting solutions.
