EAW Roll-off Mount Bases for Sako L579 Forester, KR 16mm

• Roll-off mounting system: The scope can be removed and reattached without changing the basic mount layout, which is useful for transport, storage, or switching between optics on the same rifle.
• Dedicated fit for Sako L579 Forester: This base is made for the Sako L579 Forester, giving a model-specific interface that supports secure alignment and dependable mounting stability.
• Aluminium construction: The aluminium body keeps weight down while still providing the rigidity needed in a riflescope base, helping preserve the rifle’s handling balance.
• KR extension design: The KR 18.0 mm extension helps position the mount correctly for the rifle and optic combination, which can improve eye relief setup and overall shooting comfort.
• 0 MOA inclination: A neutral base keeps the optic level in a standard hunting or sporting setup, making it a practical choice when no built-in cant is required.

About the EAW Roll-off Mounts Series

EAW Roll-off Mounts sit in the brand’s range as a more economical alternative to its pivot mounts, while still following the same emphasis on precision manufacturing and repeatable fit. The series is intended for shooters who want a practical detachable mounting system for lighter firearm setups without moving to a more complex mount style. Across the range, EAW offers both one-piece and two-piece designs, with versions for fixed installation as well as models that allow repeatable attachment and removal.

The series covers several common interfaces, including Picatinny rails and dovetail-based systems, which makes it relevant for everything from small-calibre sporting rifles to selected repeating rifles with integrated mounting surfaces. A key characteristic of the roll-off concept is that the scope can be taken off and put back on when needed, which is useful for transport, maintenance, or changing optics between applications. Within the broader EAW lineup, these mounts are positioned as a straightforward, durable solution for hunters and sporting users who value a clean mechanical design and dependable return to the rifle’s mounting points.

About the EAW Roll-off Mount Bases for Sako L579 Forester, KR 16mm

The EAW Roll-off Mount Bases for Sako L579 Forester, KR 16mm are built as a model-specific mounting solution for the Sako L579 Forester. In practical use, that dedicated fit matters because a base matched to the rifle’s action geometry is the foundation for stable optic installation and consistent alignment. As part of the EAW roll-off system, this base supports a detachable mounting arrangement that suits shooters who may remove the riflescope for transport, storage, or service work while keeping the rifle configured around the same mounting platform.

The base is made from aluminium, which keeps unnecessary weight off the rifle and helps preserve the handling qualities of a classic sporting setup. Its black finish gives it a discreet appearance that integrates well with both traditional blued rifles and more modern optics. The KR 18.0 mm extension is an important part of the layout, as it helps establish the correct mounting position for compatible upper components and can make scope placement easier when eye relief needs to be fine-tuned. With 0 MOA inclination, this base is configured for standard optic mounting rather than adding built-in cant, which makes it well suited to conventional hunting and field shooting distances. For a rifle such as the L579 Forester, the result is a compact, purpose-built base that prioritises secure fit, low added weight, and practical compatibility within the EAW mounting system.

About EAW

Ernst Apel founded EAW in 1919 in Würzburg, Germany. The company entered the riflescope-mount field in 1945, when it developed and produced its first mounts, and since 1951 mount development and production have been its main focus. That long concentration on mounting systems is central to EAW’s reputation in hunting optics and sporting rifle applications, where precise fit and repeatable attachment are critical.

Today, EAW is headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany, following the company’s production move from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970. Its catalogue is centred on pivot, slide-on or roll-off, and claw mounts for riflescopes, alongside related solutions for modern shooting applications. This background makes EAW particularly relevant in the scope-mount category, where mechanical precision and rifle-specific design are more important than broad one-size-fits-all compatibility.
