DD Optics Nachtfalke III 1.5-6x42

• 1.5-6x magnification range: The low 1.5x setting keeps the sight picture open for fast target acquisition at short distance, while 6x gives enough image scale for more deliberate shots across fields, woodland edges, and mixed hunting terrain.
• 42 mm objective with fully multicoated lenses: This combination supports a bright, high-contrast image in the first and last light of the day, helping the reticle stay easy to place when game appears in difficult lighting.
• Illuminated SFP reticle: The red illuminated reticle remains visually consistent through the zoom range, so the aiming point stays familiar and uncluttered for stalking and general hunting use.
• Capped 1/4 MOA turrets: Capped adjustment turrets protect the settings from accidental movement during transport or when moving through brush, which suits a riflescope that is meant to be carried and used in the field rather than constantly dialed.
• Compact 30 mm construction: At 520 g and 285 mm, the scope keeps a hunting rifle well balanced while still providing the adjustment range and durability expected from a full-size variable riflescope.

About the DD Optics Nachtfalke III Series

DD Optics Nachtfalke III belongs to the manufacturer’s Generation III riflescope family, a line introduced in 2014 and developed for hunting use across several common field scenarios. Within the DDoptics range, these scopes are positioned as practical all-round hunting optics for low-light hunting, stalking, and driven hunts, with configurations built around 42 mm, 50 mm, and 56 mm objective lenses. That gives the series a broad spread, from more compact daytime and mixed-use models to larger optics intended for stronger twilight performance.

A defining feature of the series is its revised reticle design, with a finer central crosshair and shorter outer posts than the earlier pattern. In practice, that gives the shooter a cleaner view of the target while still preserving the fast visual reference points that matter in hunting optics. DDoptics also described the Generation III line as using an improved optical coating, aimed at maintaining contrast and image brightness when light conditions become less forgiving. The overall concept behind the Nachtfalke III series is straightforward: dependable hunting riflescopes with useful magnification ranges, field-oriented handling, and optical performance tuned for real use rather than bench-only shooting.

About the DD Optics Nachtfalke III 1.5-6x42

The DD Optics Nachtfalke III 1.5-6x42 is built as a versatile hunting riflescope for rifles that need to cover short to medium distances without becoming bulky. Its 1.5-6x magnification range makes it especially well suited to stalking and general woodland or edge-of-field hunting, where one moment calls for a quick shot at close range and the next demands more precision on a smaller target area. The 42 mm objective lens helps keep the scope more compact than larger twilight-oriented models, while still providing enough light-gathering ability for practical use in subdued conditions.

This model uses a second focal plane reticle with red illumination, a layout many hunters prefer because the reticle appearance stays the same as magnification changes. That consistency makes the sight picture easy to read at both ends of the zoom range. The illumination supports more confident aiming against dark backgrounds, while the fixed 100 m parallax setting keeps operation simple and uncluttered for normal hunting distances. A fast-focus eyepiece allows quick reticle sharpening to the shooter’s eye, which is useful when rifles are shared or when conditions change.

Mechanically, the scope follows a field-oriented design. Its capped turrets are better suited to a carry rifle than exposed dialing turrets, because they reduce the chance of accidental adjustment. The 1/4 MOA click value still gives precise zeroing, and the generous adjustment range provides flexibility for mounting and setup. With a 30 mm tube, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction, the 1.5-6x42 is designed for regular hunting use in changing weather and rough transport conditions.

About DD Optics

DD Optics, also styled as DDoptics, is a German family-owned optics company founded in 2007 in Dresden, Germany. The company later moved its headquarters to Chemnitz in 2012. Its product range covers rifle scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, and night-vision devices, with a focus on hunting, nature observation, birdwatching, and outdoor use. That broad involvement in field optics is reflected in a product philosophy that balances practical handling, durable construction, and application-specific optical design.

For this category, an important part of the brand’s identity is that its binoculars and rifle scopes are mainly developed in Germany and mainly produced in Japan. DDoptics is also known for using its own terminology for optical features and coatings across the range, including technologies such as DDlucid coatings in other product families. In the hunting optics segment, the brand has built its reputation around offering purpose-built configurations for real field use rather than overly specialized target-only designs.
