Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 SFP

• 4-12x magnification range: Covers the practical middle ground between close woodland shots and longer open-country holds, making the scope useful for stalking, mountain hunting, and general-purpose hunting rifles.
• 40 mm objective with 91% light transmission: Delivers a bright, usable sight picture in the low-light periods when game is most active, while keeping the scope slimmer and lighter than larger-objective alternatives.
• Second focal plane reticle: Keeps the reticle visually consistent throughout the zoom range, so the aiming picture stays clean and easy to pick up at both low and high magnification.
• Side-focus parallax adjustment: Lets the shooter fine-tune image sharpness and reduce aiming error without breaking position, which is especially helpful when stretching the rifle’s effective range.
• Capped 0.25 MOA turrets: Protect the adjustments from accidental movement in the field and allow precise zeroing, making the scope well suited to hunting use where reliability matters more than constant dialing.

About the Bushnell Trophy Series

The Bushnell Trophy series sits in Bushnell’s hunting-optics range as a line built around practical field performance and straightforward operation. In Bushnell’s catalog, Trophy riflescopes are defined by one-piece tubes, fully multi-coated optics, and the fast-focus eyepiece that helps bring the reticle into view quickly when mounting the rifle in changing terrain. Select models in the series also add side parallax adjustment, giving the line broader usefulness for hunters who move between woodland distances and more open ground.

The series has been offered in familiar hunting magnification classes such as 3-9x40, 3-9x50, 4-12x40, and 6-18x50, with reticle options including Multi-X and DOA 600. That combination places Trophy between basic entry-level optics and more specialized long-range or tactical models. The design philosophy is simple: dependable mechanics, clear glass, and configurations that suit common hunting rifles without adding unnecessary bulk. For hunters who want a traditional variable riflescope with practical magnification, conventional controls, and field-oriented optical features, the Trophy family remains a recognizable Bushnell format.

About the Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 SFP

The Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 SFP is a classic hunting riflescope configuration built for shooters who need one optic to cover a wide range of field conditions. Its 4-12x magnification range gives enough low-end view for closer shots in broken terrain, while the upper end helps place shots more precisely across fields, clearings, or mountain slopes. The 40.00 mm objective lens keeps the scope trim on the rifle, and the stated 91% light transmission supports a bright image during the first and last light periods that matter most in hunting.

The reticle sits in the second focal plane, so its apparent size stays the same as magnification changes. In practice, that gives a familiar sight picture and avoids the very fine reticle appearance some hunters dislike at low power. The scope uses side-focus parallax adjustment, which helps sharpen the target image and reduce apparent reticle shift when shooting at varying distances. Bushnell also fits a fast-focus eyepiece, allowing quick reticle adjustment to the shooter’s eye.

Mechanically, this model is set up for field use rather than constant turret work. The capped turrets protect settings from brush, knocks, and rifle handling, while 0.25 MOA clicks allow precise zeroing. A 25.4 mm tube, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction make it a practical match for hunting rifles carried in changing weather. At 465.00 g and 326.00 mm, it remains manageable on stalking and mountain-hunting setups.

About Bushnell

Bushnell was founded in 1948 by Dave Bushnell. He began by selling optical products from a photographic shop in Pasadena, California, and the company grew into a well-known name in sports optics and outdoor equipment. Bushnell focuses on products for hunting, target shooting, birding, and nature observation, with a range that includes riflescopes, binoculars, red dot sights, rangefinders, spotting scopes, and trail cameras.

Within riflescopes, Bushnell is known for offering lines that span straightforward hunting optics through to more specialized tactical models, including Legend, Prime, Elite Tactical, and AR Optics. The company has also developed proprietary features such as EXO Barrier, a lens coating designed to shed water, oil, dust, and debris. That broad optics background is relevant to the Trophy line, which reflects Bushnell’s long-standing emphasis on practical field use and accessible, purpose-built sporting optics.
