Athlon Midas Flare 5x

• 5x Prism Optical System: The prism-based design delivers 5x magnification in a compact 119 mm housing, giving a crisp, vivid image that makes precise shot placement at medium distances easier than with a non-magnified sight.
• Etched APX3 Reticle: The reticle is etched directly onto the glass, so it remains fully visible with the illumination switched off or the battery depleted, and the point of aim stays consistent at all times.
• Red/Green Illumination with 12 Settings: Switch between red and green and choose from 12 brightness levels (10 daylight and 2 night vision settings) to match bright sunlight, dusk, or use alongside night vision equipment.
• Rugged, Sealed Construction: A one-piece aircraft-grade aluminum chassis, nitrogen purging, and a waterproof, fogproof and shockproof design keep the optic dependable in rain, humidity, and under recoil.

ABOUT THE ATHLON MIDAS SERIES

The Athlon Midas dot sight family covers a broad range of close- and medium-range aiming solutions, from compact pistol red dots and rifle red dot sights to magnifiers and the Midas Flare prism scopes. Together they give shooters a way to build a complete short-range setup within one product line.

The Midas Flare prism scopes are offered in 1x, 3x, and 5x versions. All three share the same core concept: a prism-based optical system that keeps the housing compact without compromising image quality, a reticle etched on glass that stays visible without illumination, and selectable red/green illumination with multiple intensity levels. This makes the Flare models a practical alternative to a red dot for shooters with astigmatism, since the etched reticle is viewed through the optics rather than projected.

The series is built for fast target acquisition and quick transitions, making it suitable for AR-platform rifles, carbines, home defense, competition, and short-range hunting. Every Flare prism scope is nitrogen-filled, fogproof, and shockproof, and uses fully multi-coated lenses for a bright, true-color image across a wide range of light conditions.

ABOUT THE MODEL (ATHLON MIDAS FLARE 5X)

The Athlon Midas Flare 5x is the highest-magnification model in the Flare line, combining 5x magnification with a 30 mm objective lens. The extra magnification makes it easier to identify targets and place shots precisely at medium distances, while the fixed-power prism design keeps operation simple, with no zoom ring to adjust under time pressure. This makes it a good match for carbines and AR-style rifles used for longer engagements than a 1x or 3x optic is typically suited to.

Despite the higher magnification, the prism-based optical system keeps the scope at just 119 mm in length and 447 g in weight, leaving plenty of rail space for other accessories. The fully multi-coated lenses reduce reflections and increase light transmission, resulting in a brighter image than single-coated optics.

The APX3 reticle with a 2 MOA center dot is etched directly on the glass. Illumination is controlled via +/− buttons on the left side of the chassis, offering 12 brightness settings (10 daylight, 2 night vision). Pressing both buttons together switches between red and green, while a lock mode prevents accidental changes in the field. Smart Power Management turns the unit off after 3 hours without adjustment and restores the last used setting after a battery change. Power comes from a single CR2032 battery.

Zeroing is handled with capped windage and elevation turrets offering 1 MOA per click; the turret cap doubles as an adjustment tool. A fast-focus eyepiece lets you sharpen the reticle to your eye, and the eye relief is 71 mm (2.8 in).

The scope ships with a Picatinny mount that fits most standard Picatinny rails, giving a center height of 40 mm (1.57 in). The one-piece aircraft-grade aluminum chassis is nitrogen purged, waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof for reliable use in demanding conditions.

ABOUT ATHLON

Athlon Optics is a US sports optics company founded in 2014 and based in Kansas. The company's approach is to offer optics with features usually found in higher price classes at accessible prices, made possible by in-house engineering design, close partnerships with established manufacturing facilities, and a streamlined supply chain.

Athlon's manufacturing partners use cleanroom assembly, high-precision CNC machining, and advanced lens polishing and coating equipment, and the company tests its optical products for waterproofing, fog-proofing, and shock resistance before shipping. Today, the Athlon range includes riflescopes, red dot sights, prism scopes, magnifiers, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and thermal imaging optics for hunters, recreational shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts.
