Zeiss Victory RF

Introduction

At the Iwa Outdoor 2018, Zeiss introduced a new model of laser rangefinder binoculars with a real-time ballistic computer integrated. In our opinion, these binoculars replaced the previous Victory RF model and are the lightest and most beautiful laser range finding binoculars on the market. They are available in 8x42, 10x42, 8x54 and 10x54.

8x42 and 10x42 are more suitable for the daylight use, while 8x54 and 10x54 will perform better in twilight conditions.

About Victory RF

Zeiss continues the trend with 54 mm SCHOTT HT lenses as on the previous model, providing the same light transmission with a lower mass. The 54 mm models are extremely compact and convenient, considering what a large amount of light they gather and how bright the image they provide is. Zeiss is the only premium optics manufacturer that offers a 10x54 configuration in LRF binoculars segment – neither Leica nor Swarovski have this. Victory RF are the first binoculars of their kind that do not have an appearance of a laser rangefinder since all the elements are hidden under the surface and blend well with the whole look. The exception is the two buttons on the upper side of the binoculars which are visible yet very well disguised in the armoring. This LRF model has the best ergonomics we have seen so far in this category. The design has a typical and classic "Zeiss look" – there are no significant differences from other models. It is extremely well-built from high-quality materials. The construction is made of high-grade magnesium and is coated in smooth and durable rubber. The eyepieces are also improved and so is the focusing system which is very precise. As for the resolution, they are on the same level as the Victory HT binoculars, but as far as the light transmittance is concerned, they are only a few percents behind the HT. Zeiss Victory RF binoculars are capable of displaying measurements up to 2300 meters.

Victory RF are the first premium LRF (laser rangefinder) binoculars that can be connected to the phone via Bluetooth and allow the entry of all the ballistic data into the internal ballistics computer. Up to 9 personalized ballistic profiles can be saved and set with the ZEISS Hunting App. The latter fully satisfies all the needs of a modern hunter, including long-range shots. Developing the App took Zeiss a lot of time and effort but it works perfectly. In our opinion, it has the best integration of an application among all such devices. It provides excellent connectivity and is extremely precise and consistent. They also introduced Zeiss AR Sports Optics App that allows you to view Zeiss devices and their details in 3D.

The previous Zeiss Victory RF models had a problem with light transmission in one of the barrels. When looking through the binoculars, the user could immediately notice the difference – the image seen through the barrel where the display is located was darker. This had a significant impact on the optical experience. With the new models, Zeiss managed to improve the optics to a point where this difference is no longer as noticeable. The light transmission is still not as great in the barrel where the display is but Zeiss made a significant improvement.

The binoculars are made in Germany and come with a 10-year warranty period.
