Our Observations
With Steiner Nighthunter H35, the user has to long-press the on/off button for at least 5 seconds or until the manufacturers’ logo appears, which is at 9 seconds. After the logo disappears, the image appears, and the Startup timer stops – at approximately 15.868 seconds. At that time, the device is still unresponsive to the users’ actions, therefore a menu button is used to determine when the device is ready to be used. As soon as the device responds to the press of the button, the second timer stops – at approximately 18.462 seconds.
We were pressing the menu button to accurately portray the ready-to-use time. The number of times we pressed the zoom button does not matter; the ready-to-use time does not get any longer/shorter.
Steiner Nighthunter H35 has an internal battery and can be charged with the type-C charger. As you cannot switch the batteries, make sure you check the battery status before heading out on the field.
This device is quite big, but you can still comfortably hold it in your hands. It’s easy to handle, and the buttons are easy to press even if you are wearing gloves. The power button is a bit uncomfortable to hold, but it’s not that bad. The device has an overall nice design.
When turning the device off, you just simply hold the on/off button, until all parts of a circle turn red (it looks kind of like a countdown), and then you can release the button. If you release the button sooner, the Steiner Nighthunter H35 goes in Standby mode, which is a nice battery-saving feature. To exit the Standby mode, you simply press any button, and the device is ready to be used.
