HIKMICRO Condor Thermal Monoculars

Our team annually visits the IWA fair in Nuremberg, Germany, to stay updated with the latest innovations in the industry. This year was no exception. Right from the entrance, it was evident the fair had a lot to offer. We also stopped at the Hikmicro booth, eager to learn about their latest product line expansions. We spoke with Gunnar, who shared more details about their new Hikmicro Condor Thermal Monocular line.

Hikmicro Condor Specifications

With the launch of the Condor series in the fall of 2023, Hikmicro introduced four models of thermal monocular devices. The lineup begins with the most affordable CH25L, followed by the CH35L and CQ35L, leading up to the premium, most expensive model, the CQ50L. The numbers in each model’s name indicate the different focal lengths they offer.

The company is really stepping up their game in terms of ergonomic design as Condor is probably one of the sleekest-looking thermal monoculars currently on the market. Each model keeps a compact size and is built with a magnesium alloy housing, making the devices light yet strong. The magnetic lens cover on all models is designed to be easy to use and quiet. The integrated laser rangefinder enables distance measurement up to 1,000 meters with an accuracy of ±1 meter.

All models offer 8x digital magnification and a quick boot feature, which turns the devices on and ready in just 3 seconds. They come with three interchangeable and rechargeable 18650 batteries, allowing for two hours of continuous use with the laser rangefinder activated, totaling up to six hours of operation, according to the manufacturer.

The devices also feature an auto screen-off function that activates based on the device’s orientation, saving power when not in use. If tilted laterally by 75° or vertically by 70°, the Condor automatically switches to standby mode. Additionally, HIKMICRO Zoom Pro technology in all models provides clear images with improved signal-to-noise ratio and detail.

Despite sharing some structural features, the four models vary in key specifications.

The CH25L and CH35L models offer a resolution of 384×288 pixels, while the CQ35L and CQ50L models provide a higher resolution of 640×512 pixels; however, all models share a 12-micron pixel pitch. Each model boasts an NETD of under 20 millikelvins. Regarding detection range, the entry-level CH25L can detect objects up to 1200 meters away, the mid-range models up to 1800 meters, and the premium CQ50L model extends this spec to 2600 meters.

Condor devices are IP67 rated, meaning they can withstand the roughest outdoor conditions and operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +55°C.

Price and Warranty for Hikmicro Condor

The Condor series represents a notable step forward in Hikmicro’s thermal imaging range. With competitive pricing, the CH25L is available for 1859 €, the CH35L for 2099 €, the CQ35L for 2399 €, and the CQ50L, as the premium model, goes for 3089 €. We especially appreciate the magnesium hosing and sleek form factor as the devices feel really good in the hand. Another thing that might shift customers into getting a unit is the fact that all four models already come with the integrated laser rangefinder. We welcome the rapid development of Hikmicro devices and look forward to seeing what the future holds for their innovations.
